Should parents have complete control over thier children's education or should the state have a say in it?
There is a growing movement of parents who think that the government has no right to interfere with raising of children. They believe that compulsory attendance is a violation of thier rights.
The founding fathers never addressed this issue specifically, because at the time of the founding of our country, governments did not interfere with family life in any way. Family life was considered private, and punishment for child and spousal abuse and neglect of any form was carried out by friends, family and neighbors without the assistance of the authorities, unless someone died.
What do you think? Should we get rid of cumpolsory attendance?
