| Someone close to me had a very bad stroke and 1/2 of their brain is dead, however when I visited her in the hospital this morning she squeezed my hand on command and cried when I talked her her about how loved she is, etc.. The thing is she is in her 80's and according to doctors her prognosis is poor. Her family put her in a place called the gatehouse, a comfortable place at the hospital for people to die. The thing that is really bothering me is her feeding tube was removed as to not prolong her life. (she is unable to swallow, b/c of her stroke) According to her doctor, she has about a week or less to live without food or water, (the persons last wishes are to not be kept on life support, but to me life support is when a person cannot breathe on their own) But she is going to starve to death!!!! I am soooo tore up over this!!!!!! so my mumm is: Should she be given food and water and just let her pass on when it is her time or respect her wishes and let her starve to death? Comments are welcome, but please don't be mean!! I am really upset about this!! |
