Ok. I want to say, right off, I'm not advocating this idea. It just came to me out of nowhere. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm prone to coming up with insanely radical ideas out of nowhere. This is more to spark a moral/ethical debate than anything.
At this point, we as Americans (if you're Canadian, just bear with me and role-play - feeling free to interject your "character's" opinons) are well aware of the immigration issue. So, I had an idea.
How would you feel about enlisting illegal immigrants in the military in return for citizenship? Or any immigrant for that matter?
In case you think I have no concept of my own history as an American, I know it's been done. Especially in the late 19th century with Irish immigrants.
But now that we have a whole new immigration boom on the horizon, how does this strike you? |
