My middle child is notoriously hard to motivate, hes a smart kid but he just doesnt seem to care about his grades at all. Normal punishments, grounding, taking away privileges, TV, video games etc., dont seem to have much effect on him. This has been a life long struggle, not a sudden change or a teenage thing. Hes 14 and Im worried that if he doesnt learn this lesson soon that things are only going to go downhill.

Should I just keep on him and keep taking away privileges or should I institute some sort of manual labor as punishment? Ideas are welcome.
