Ok here is the deal, I am in a debate with a bunch of my friends. I have a kidney disease call Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD.) They say in about 5 years that I will be on dialsys and need to be on a transplant list. A bunch of people keep telling me that they will give me a kidney, but I keep telling them no, I wont take a kidney from a live donor.
1. A transplanted kidney life expectancy is about 10 years. SO once they give you a kidney, most likely it will only last 10 years, if your lucky. So why would I want to put someone that I love care about through that for 10 years?? Than have to find another person to do it.... sounds like a pain in the ass to me.
2. My life hasn't been that great, I haven't made a huge impact, or done anything spectacular. (in my opinion, others disagree) What if there is a 10 year old that needs that kidney and he is our future president, or the guy that stops world war 3. I a kids like is more important than mine, give it to him.
Its just my opinion, that might change once it gets closer and my body starts going down hill... I am just curious what your opinion is.
This is a fatal disease, and as of yet they have not found a cure for it. I look at it as I am pretty much gonna die in 6 to 7 years.
