A sad day but then reality is a good thing to check anyone. 14th December 2007
It is not a nice to admit but today could have been the first seizure in 20 months. I am not sure but my husband thinks it was although he was not present all of the time. If it was then everything has changed which is maybe what does happen, however I have no way of telling what it was like for other people in the same position when they had their first seizure after surgery.
I was in the kitchen and heard my husband saying that our neighbour was walking down the drive. As I had a book to give her I called to him and asked him to bring me a copy. I went to get the undelivered card for her and opened the door. I remember her saying that she felt like Santa Claus so I told her that I had a present for her and as my husband did not come I went to fetch it. As this was the book that she had spent hours proof reading it was like coals to Newcastle but she wanted a copy and a signed one at that. However, I did not sign it just in case she had changed her mind. When I passed it to her this kept going around in my head and I waited for her to say but she said nothing. I gave her the book and it fell on the floor so I remember picking it up from outside the back door and then handing it to her. She looked up the drive and said that she had to dash because they were waiting for her. This I took to be her family but did not go out to look. I had a feeling of dread and went back into the kitchen and went over to the table. It was a blank after that up until my husband was talking to me and asking questions so I asked him why he was asking me questions and whether something had happened. He made me sit down because I was wobbly and then it seemed like he was constantly asking questions. As it was similar to how he was prior to the black out in Goa I assumed that I had blacked out again.
He later explained that he thought I had had a seizure because at that time I was making strange noises and leaning over the chair in the kitchen. He said that he had sat me on the floor at this point because I was so floppy.
I was a little horrified because at that moment I was on the bed. It came to mind that if I had been on the floor then my clothes would have been dirty. The dirty clothes came off and I rested for a while.
A while later when I got up, I felt wobbly at the knees and had trouble walking because it felt like I was going to faint. Consequently, I took it easy for a while then ate the rest of my lunch which is what I was doing prior to this episode. My husband had taken my sugar levels whilst I was blacked out and said they were five so that was not exceptionally low but I had eaten prior to "answering the door", which incidentally I had left wide open according to my husband so I had actually opened the back door and not imagined it. Unfortunately I had not shut it! The book was on the kitchen floor by this time, I was reliably informed.
Following a telephone call to our neighbours they confirmed that nobody had called as the lady in question was out and had been out all day.
We were going out tonight but I decided to forego that and am currently alone and feeling quite all right but in need of a sleep. I have not been sleeping well these last few days and not been exercising much either which has been a worry because I need to but have not had the energy to do it. However, it is several hours after the event and I have eaten dinner and feel much better but just a little sleepy but that could be the effect of the wine I had with tea etc.
This is being posted not because I want to but because it needs posting whilst it is fresh in my mind. Well, there is not much else to say that cannot be added at a later date.
