Here we are again. The first day of a new year. And like me, I bet a lot of you have a bunch of resolutions you swear you're going to hold up to. I plan on doing a lot of changing for the better. After the way 2006 went, it can only get better. LOL
Changing of careers, Hurricane Katrina cleanup (which still needs more help, so if you can help, please do), still dealing with Bush Administration bullshit, an ongoing war in Iraq with our fellow brave men and women in peril, political shake-up, damn, 2006 was a mothafucka!!
But with all that said, we're still here. That's easy to lose sight of. Tomorrow isn't promised to anybody, so if you can't find anything to be thankful for, use that. Even the ones near and dear to our hearts who passed away last year, and the years before, they are still with us in our hearts and minds. And we should keep moving forward in bettering ourselves for them and for ourselves.
I know I may come off as some know-it-all who "preaches" too much, but it's just that I see too many good people make bad decisions, or say the wrong things, in order to fit in, or belong, or be appreciated or liked. And I see a lot of good people get hurt and disrespected by the consequences of those same actions. So in 2007, I'm hoping to be a better person in respect to that.
However you live your life, and however you choose to portray yourself, I respect it. Instead of throwing around labels on people who think, act, or look different than me, I'll try to be a little more understanding of where they are coming from. It's hard enough living life. You shouldn't have countless people telling how you should live it, or how you're fucking it up. I'm trying not to be as critical of people, which is hard since we live in such a critical, opinionated world. But if I want to be respected and appreciated for who I am as a person, I have to return that sentiment.
Maybe if we all did, this world would be a much better place. Maybe we wouldn't worry so much about what happens on CT. Maybe we wouldn't judge a whole race, religion, culture, gender, or any other large group based on the actions of a few fucked up individuals. Maybe I'm just sayin' a lot of wishful bullshit. Who knows? Maybe 2007 can be an even worse year. But that doesn't mean I won't try to make it better.
But hey, this is just my opinion......my word ain't law....
