A firefighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with ladders hung off the sides and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.The girl is wearing a firefighter's helmet. The wagon is being pulled by her dog & her cat.The firefighter walks over to take a closer look."that sure ia a nice firetruck," the firefighter says with admiration."Thanks,"the girl says.The firefighter takes a closer look & notices the girl has tied her wagon to the dog's collar & the cat's testicles."Little partner," the firefighter says,"I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster."The little girl replies thoughtfully,"You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren."

I couldn't do medic side - my best friend is EMS and I don't know how she manages to be in the ambulance with dying people.I love doing the work - I love helping people, the knowledge that I'm making a difference in someone's life by not sending an officer with hat in hand to them but sending their loved one home to them instead. But to do rescue, I kinda need to objectify the person - if I stop to think that it's a real person, bleeding and dying, then I'll mess up in a situation where every moment counts. I guess that's why it hits me so hard when I'm at a scene that becomes a fatality. I don't like knowing that somewhere, there's a little girl or boy missing a Mom or Dad for the rest of their life, or a husband or wife's heart breaking from the loss of their mate, or a brother or sister suddenly being a sibling less.That prolly seems a little strange, but I like helping people, and this lets me do that ya know?What do you like most?
lol My dad was a firefighter when I was growing up - also ran EMS and Fire Police. Soon as I could, I joined as well and started working on my Fire Police classes and my BVRT courses. Completed Tech a few days after my 18th birthday. >^.^< The instructors were friends of mine so it was pretty easy to talk them into pushing the start of the course back 2 weeks so I could do it. So of course I appreciate fire fighters - I am one! =DSpare time eh? Huge WoW fanatic. If you've never played lemme know - I'll hook you up with a free trial account. >~.^< Pretty boring otherwise - I'm a country girl at heart, so I prefer hikes, picnics on a blanket outside, good book and a comfy tree and the like.
