The Encounter;
Only for tonight
You softly whispered to me
Only for tonight
And then I’ll set you free
It was dark, except for moonlight
That was searching for escape
Beaming from a skylight
Just above the fireplace
You went to get some candles
Asked me to light a fire
You returned with flaming tapers
As my soul burned with desire
You were dressed in clinging silken lace
Your hair dark auburn brown
That shimmered with a copper hue
As the fire danced around
Your eyes were green as emeralds
Or were they brown, I can’t recall
I just know when looking into them
Made my heart yours to forestall
You grabbed a soft down comforter
You laid it out across the floor
With the fires flame in front of us
And above us Heavens door
You sat down upon the pillow
Motioned me to do the same
You poured two glasses of red wine
Toasting passions yet to tame
Reaching over, never faltering
You started unbuttoning my shirt
But you stopped to tell me something
And this is what I heard
Only for tonight
You softly whispered to me
Only for tonight
Etched in my memory..........
