I found out yesterday that my 14 year old daughter has lost a friend. Her friend has committed suicide. We will call her friend A., A.'s cousin killed herself a few weeks previously.
My son lost 3 of his friends last year due to suicide and he was very 'cut up' over their deaths.
What is happening to our young people? What makes them feel so desperate and alone that they feel they can't go on with life? Why aren't they talking to their parents?
My heart feels so sad and heavy when i hear about a child taking their own life. I pride myself on being a laid back kinda parent who has always brought their children up to be able to talk openly about anything. But the sad reality is - if a child feels they can't talk to their parents then what can that parent do?
Thanks for reading.
