BETRAYED

Was it the sound of her voice
or the scarceness of her words.
The avoiding tendencies
and the reluctance to open up to him.
A trust was achieved
and a bond was made,
were these superficial
or was he just played.
The heart is fragile
and once opened,
it has no protection
from the dagger of lies.
Betrayal is painful
and hurts from within,
a emptiness envelopes him
as the tears begin.
Did she lead you to believe
that you were the one,
that special man
that brightened her world like the sun.
Only to darken your heart,
blacker than any night sky,
and cast you into doubt
with the longing just to die.
