If you have children (or even pets), how did you choose their name(s)?
i have owned alotta cats in my lifetime!!! so now i am gonna tell you their names &what/ how i named them..atleaet the ones that i can remember!!!
SMOKEY---my first kitty i had when i was 6. he was grey. i wanted to name him "zipper" after the cat from The Get Along Gang. but my brother chose Smokey
REXIE--he was named when me & my brothers were at my grandma's house brainstorming about cat names & came up with absolutley nothing. then a commercial came on & a guy with a black & white horse appeared on the television.the man said 'this is rexie" our cat was black & white like the horse so...we named him rexie ! simple as that!
SKIPPY--our one & only dog . he was named after a jar of peanut butter!
TOBI- my brother joaquin's cat. i'm pretty sure he was named after Tobi Vail from Bikini KIll.
BRODIE -my brother joseph & his girlfriend lori(caidahlia)had a cat named Brodie. named after the Brodie character on "Mall Rats" brodie never lived at our house but it was a cute name so i thought i'd mention it!! :)
RADLEY--this was a name i picked for a future child! I saw this name on thank you lists on many Operation Ivy records...i thought the name was RAD! :. so i named my cat radley cos i was very far from having children...i was19 i think
POTSIE--Radley's son. i was going thru a big "Happy Days" phase at the time!!!
BABY- a siamese kitty my family had for a very short time. we couldn't come up with another name so we just statred calling her "baby kitty"
BAILEY--i found him in the middle of town being terrorized by kids on bikes!!! i was in love with "Party Of FIve". i thought Scott Wolf was soooooo hot so i named my kitty after his PO5 character "bailey"
VERONICA--i was a big Archies fan for awhile & i did a zine called "Veronica Lodge"so i named my next kitty "veronica"
HENRY---veronica's brother! i had gone to Chicago that summer & saw Henry Rollins walking down the street!! so i was inspired to name this kitty after him!!
BRADLEY--a fat little annoying grey cat that i named after Brad from Sublime
RUDY--brad's bro--we didn't have him for very long he got hit by a car. i was going thru another SKA phase...rudy this & rudy that in all of my favorite songs!!
***it's gets a little foggy here cos Veronica got pregnant so many times!!!***
MARILYN-named after marilyn monroe
BLONDIE-named after blondie
MADONNA-named after Madonna!
CHICKEN-joseph named him that. he thought it was really funny to have a cat named "Chicken"
PUNKY-kinda named after punky brewster but he was a boy & i just thought "punky" was a cute name
JOHNNY-named after Johnny Knoxvlle
ELVIS--named after Elvis Presley ...of course
& here's cats that me & my husband have had together:
SID--the origial Sid we had was a sickly grey cat we found. he ran away. we named him Sid cos our friend Matt had a grey cat Named Sid.
SIDRA/SID--originally named "popeye" by the people that brought this kitten to the humane society--there was some confusion about the sex of this cat. they said it was a boy the animal shelter told us it was a girl.we took her home & named her "Sidra' afer Terri Hatcher's character on "Seinfeld" then later we referered to her as"sidra vicious" cos she was so mean!!! later it was discovered that our sidra really was a sid!! so it was shortened to SID!
DANZIG--named after Glenn Danzig. we only had this kitty for a very short time! he was jamie's cat.
MONROE-we also had this bad kitty very briefly. i didn't wanna name another kitty Marilyn so since jamie named his kitty a last name i chose the last name of Monroe for this cat!
DEWEY--this cat was already named Dewey when we adopted him. we tried to rename him but he already knew his name was dewey! plus i had thought of naming a new kitty after one of the kids on "malcolm in the middle" & dewey IS my favorite! :)
TOXIE-named after the Toxic Avenger!!!
FLEA-jamie named him! we had just watched the 80s movie "Suburbia" movie so i'm sure that had something to do with it!!
CUPCAKE--i wanted to name my little siamese cat something cute. she's like a cute little cupcake...so that is what i named her!!!
