Lurking around every corner
Watching. Waiting.
Lurking in the shadows, waiting for its victims.
Capturing them to hold them captive, never letting them go.
Never giving up.
Holding you close, suffocating you.
Covering your mouth.
No cries of help, no cries of getting away.
Shedding tears as you are squirming, trying to get away.
The darkness holding you, holding you close to its form.
Holding you so close you can’t breathe, can’t escape.
You cry.
Crying for someone, something, to turn around and get you out of Darkness.
Out of its grasp, out of its sight.
There is no escape. No way to get out of this dark, isolated place.
You slowly quiet down. Slowly die out.
Quit moving. Quit squirming. Stop breathing.
Then you are gone.
The darkness got to you.
You’re gone. No more life. No more friends. No more family. No more help.
None.
