I know a shitload of people shop at this behemoth of retail, and if I offend anyone, it's not truly intentional, but as a common fixture in communities, and as a staple for many families for the necessities of life, I can't stand how this corporation does business.
If they can put a barcode on it, they'll sell it, NO MATTER HOW USELESS IT IS!! I was shopping for some dvds, and they have this big "2-pack" push, where they put two movies in one package, and the movies have nothing to do with each other. I can understand if they have some common link, like a certain actor or a common theme or plot. But what do Schindler's List and Legally Blonde have in common? I don't know either, but you can own both for only 12.99.
And they don't sell "explicit" music unless the "content" is edited, even though message the artist is trying to convey isn't blocked. However, not even 5 feet away from the music section, you can buy the UNEDITED, UNRATED version of some gory, violent, or graphically sexual movie in the same place. Because they're a "family" store. BULLSHIT!!! Now what's worse for kids, music with curse words, graphic movies, or all those cheap ass products in the toy aisle laced with shiny lead-based paint?
Then they treat their employees like indentured servants. They have changed their health care plans yet again, and have left the common employee dangling with some half-ass HMO plan that barely covers the minimum of medical procedures. The wages are laughable, and god forbid you have any major gripes with the company, you have to sign an affidavit before you're officially hired on, basically promising that you will not go on TV to voice your discourse with company policy. And they have a legal team just chomping at the bit to shut you down if you bring any type of litigation to light about the abuses of their corporate headquarters.
And they slowly but surely destroy local business. Grocery stores, mom and pop shops, specialty stores, eventually go bankrupt and shut down for good, because they don't have the resources to compete with them. And still the residents shop with little to no abandon while their town slowly crumble down around them.
And all for what? Low, low prices? Cheap shit shouldn't be the end-all, be-all for wanting these businesses in your life. Hell, I could take a shit in a box, mark it down half-price and call it a must-have bargain if that would make you happy!!
But this is just my opinion......my word ain't law
