Driving home around 3:30 this morning from work and seeing only a sliver of the moon missing out of tonight's moon certainly makes think about the fact that tomorrow will be likely be out tomorrow night.
Normally, that is something that anyone working in crisis response areas (police, shelters, hospitals, and the like) knows that those are usually the peaks of the crisis callers. Why? That is anyone's guess.
But I just cringed again when I coupled that with the realization that tomorrow is New Year's Eve, another day that, in itself, can be a crazy night with people partying and drinking and getting carried away with bringing in the New Year.
I would love for the communities to prove the theories wrong. Our phones to not to ring. Hospitals not seeing massive emergencies with fireworks, DWI accidents, etc. Police not needed to break up any fights -- whether or not they are domestic violence related.
Wouldn't it be nice if, for one New Year's Eve, it was a calm night with folks bringing in the new year with mild celebrations that didn't cost anyone else's lives???
Please, oh please.....
As CT community folks, please do your part to ensure the safety of all of us and others in your community and bring in the New Year with the joyous celebration that it is meant to be! May every one of us have positive New Year's Eve events that ring into a New and Prosperous New Year for 2007. May we all have peace and joy this weekend.
