Imagine

Imagine if you will, a small child lying on a hospital bed waiting for a needed operation. A doctor enters the room and tells the parents, I'm sorry there's no blood to perform the operation. Now imagine if, that was your child!! Only 5 % of the people that are able to donate blood do so. Blood donors save lives Be a hero take the time to donate as often as you can Give the gift of life http://www.donate-blood.com/site2/content/patient_stories.asp

Beware of Garbage Trucks

Beware of Garbage Trucks How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly one can get back their focus on what's important. Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches! The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck." Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did. So this was it: The "Law of the Garbage Truck." I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, "I'm not going to do it anymore." I began to see garbage trucks. Like in the movie "The Sixth Sense," the little boy said, "I see Dead People." Well, now "I see Garbage Trucks." I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.

be careful

BE CAREFUL Be careful of your thoughts for your thoughts become your word. Be careful of your words for your words become your actions. Be careful of your actions for your actions become your habits. Be careful of your habits for your habits become your character. Be careful of your character for your character becomes your destiny. Author Unknown

Summer’s fading

Summer’s fading The summer has started fading quickly into fall. Once again, overhead will be the geese’s call. The air will turn crisp, and the colors will be bright. The days will turn short; and longer will be the night. The summer heat turned brown the once green grass. I glance back as another summer comes to pass. Was a time, I hated to see summer go. I’d skip fall and think of winter’s snow. We spend a lot of time living in a future that isn’t here. Why, we want to skip the present, isn’t always clear. I often ponder this and think it’s because, The older I get, the better I was. We look at our past, think of the future, skip what’s in between. We can’t change the past, and the future remains unseen. So, before this day has become my past, I’ll live this day like it was my last. I’m going to spend each day and try and do no wrong. My days passed now seem many; the future might not be as long. chris

Daily Gratitude

Daily Gratitude Most of my dreams have been shattered I Guess, what I planned didn’t matter. The schemes I had, they seemed so grand. God might have laughed when, I told him my plans. The door to the future, wish I held the key. Even still, I don’t always know what’s best for me. Given the choice, would we allow pain? Would we allow the storms even if, it meant rain? There’s so much I don’t know. Why does it take sorrow to help us grow? Why can’t we have the beauty of snow without the cold? Why can’t we stay young and never grow old? I now know, I can’t change time but, Time can change me. No longer am I, the person I used to be. As each day starts to unfold, I know not, what it will hold. I shall take each day as a blessing. I’ll overlook the bad that, makes life depressing. I’ll be thankful for each day and every minute. I’ll be thankful for life, just to be in it. Chris
