IT's amazing how much Christmas has changed over the years; how Santa Clause has turned so commercial.
As a child I always loved a visit from Santa. He would come to my grandma's house every Christmas and bring each of us kids a little gift out of his sack. It's was a wonderful time of life.
Even now when I'm old enough to know it was a friend of the family who brings us a gift, I don't really care.
To me Santa Clause is the personification of the Spirit of Giving. After all what does Santa do, but give gifts to all the good little girls and boys. And there is nothing wrong with a little warning of "better be good or Santa will put nothing but coal in your stockings".
The winter solstice is about the earth sleeping and preparing for rebirth in the spring. It's a time when everything takes a break, reflects upon the old year and looks forward to the new one.
