I've been battling with Apple and my ISP here in GA over this "connection reset by peer" nonsense. Well I've gone to a few places by my apartment that I know have free wifi, but I still couldn't download the updates. Then today it dawns on me THE PUBLIC LIBRARY! So I go on my TomTom to find then nearest pulbic library and it's about 8 or 9 minutes away, not bad. But I call them first to make sure they have wifi. The lady was so nice on the phone and told me the whole building is wifi. So I got in my truck and headed that way. When I got here I was flabbergasted, the place looks like the Taj Mahal of libraries. I kid you not, this library looks beautiful. It's three stories and everything is state of the art. Well I found a nice desk in the magazine room and sat down. I got out my lovely MacBook and turned it on. It recognized the public wifi and I was connected. I went to the internet and it was lightning fast. Then I crossed my fingers and went to software updates. The system found the updates I needed and I chose the smallest one just to test it out. It went through in less than a minute. I got this huge smile on my face and people probably think I'm crazy. I wanted to do the happy dance soooo badly. Well less than 10 minutes later I have all 6 updates on my computer and I'm ready to rock 'n roll! I wish I had thought of this on Monday instead of wasting all those cell minutes talking to people who had no clue what they were talking about. But nevertheless I got my computer updated, my printer is working properly, and I'm a happy girl! I'm going to go home and pour me a drink. I think I deserve it. Tomorrow I'm going to get a digital cable box because I didn't pay $600 for an HDTV to watch crappy analog cable channels on. I'M SO HAPPY! It's good to know it's the little things in life that get me so stoked!
