So0o I have recently found out some news that I am not very happy about. I have only told 3 people (my bestest friends) other than my family until now. I decided that I should go ahead and let everyone know.
As many of you know in 2004 I was injured at work. I was on Worker's Comp for 2 years. I was told I needed to have a surgery on my back that would cost 75grand. And at that time (Aug-Sept 2005) I was rated at a 14% Impairment. However, I decided not to have the surgery because I was afraid it wouldn't help, but only make it worse. So, I settled my case. While I did get a significant amount of money it apparently was nowhere near enough!
And this is why:
I woke up Monday morning to find my left foot swollen and a redness around my ankle. I kept an eye on it all day. And throughout the day it became more and more swollen, very very painful in my calf and my foot went completely numb. I couldn't even move my little toes and could barely move my big toe. I ended up going to the hospital and found out that I have Neuropathy in my left foot. I have pain coming from my Sciatica and an extensive amount of Nerve damage. I've also had an MRI done and it shows that my Spinal Cord is almost completely crushed in one spot. Now if you don't know what Neuropathy is let me define it for you.
What is a peripheral neuropathy?
The term peripheral neuropathy describes a problem with the functioning of the nerves outside of the spinal cord. The symptoms of a neuropathy may include numbness, weakness, burning pain (especially at night), and loss of reflexes. The pain may be severe and disabling. And can lead to death.
Neuropathy is the symptom Diabetics have that causes them to have amputations.
Problems with the Sciatica can lead to incontinence and loss of body functions!
The only solution to this problem is for me to have this surgery that I need. However, where the hell would I get 75grand? I don't have insurance and even if I did the surgery wouldn't be covered because it is a pre-existing injury. So0o Im pretty much screwed. I should put collection jars all over town to save my life!
