Everyone who plans a trip to The Bahamas should first contact the wonderful folks at the People-to-People program. Because of my interest and experience in ports of call and the naval ship yard, they arranged for me to meet a Bahamian with experience in the country's port. On the first day, I had a long conversation with the free port harbor master. He provided fascinating insights into the current dynamics of trade laws in The Bahamas. The next day, I we had dinner at a place where they feed the Bull Sharks in front of the customers. This man served for many years as the Harbor Master Meeting him, I felt as if I was speaking with the most important man on the Islands. Thanks in part to the People to People program, and also thanks to the overall friendliness and generosity of the Bahamian people, this ranks as one of my best vacations ever.
