I see people
happy in their ignorance
I hear people
their voices full of hope
What power makes them so endure?
What makes the human spirit cope?
Sitting upon my favourite ledge
I watch life go on below
Drumming my fingers to an unknown tune
as its drizzles seductively slow
Making them huddle in their coats
and beneath umbrellas hide
Rush to family and friends they love
or anywhere they can spend the night
In my own black coat I sit and watch
silently
so intrigued by it all
How do these mortals manage to live
get up after every brutal fall
For I know the fate of the prayers
uttered by those who believe
Prayers that will never be answered
for they are pleas that aren't received
Lost with the air
they are words
I can see them with my eyes
I see the preacher for what he is
an actor addicted to lies
But if its these false hopes that
keep you alive
another day to see
Ignorant people I bow to your strength
And thus I'll let it be
