Assault with a dead weapon? It normally is state “Assault with a deadly weapon”, however in this case it sounds like the weapon was already dead. WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A New Zealand man accused of assault with prickly weapon — a hedgehog — has been fined by a court and ordered to pay most of his fine to his teenage victim. Whakatane District Court was told Thursday that William Singalargh picked up the hedgehog and threw it several yards to hit a 15-year-old boy in the North Island east coast town of Whakatane on Feb. 9. Police told the court the unusual assault weapon had hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks. The teen did not need medical treatment. Singalargh was convicted of common assault and offensive behavior following a defended hearing. He had pleaded innocent to the charges. He was fined a total of 700 New Zealand dollars (US$545) with NZ$500 (US$389) paid to his victim. The more serious charge of assault with a weapon, namely a hedgehog, was dropped. The maximum penalty for that charge is five years in prison. It was not known whether the hedgehog was dead or alive at the time of the attack, but Senior Sgt. Bruce Jenkins said earlier that it was dead when collected as evidence. While using a hedgehog as a weapon in an assault is uncommon, Jenkins said people often got charged with assault for throwing things at other people. Can you imagine? Apparently Mr. Singalargh was with others playing “Hacky Sack” with the hedgehog…strange game to play with an animal so I am thinking since most hedgehogs are not hacky sack material that this one was already deceased.
Hmmm just wondering if road kill is now the weapon of choice in New Zealand?
Oh well my Amanda played a game this weekend called the Amazing Race (Relay for Life: American Cancer Foundation) in which the all girl team ended up in fifth place… Talking about road kill, one of their tasks was to bring in road kill…what kind of sick mind planned that task for those gals… they did however find a dead black bird and bagged it for a completion of that task. She had fun, the event is held yearly in the twin cities and has raised multiple dollars for the foundation, yea them! The little darling has two weeks left in Michigan before we move her south, it will be sad to say the least she is just like me…

Our open house sucked! The weather was not so good, not many showed up as intended; all in all it was not a good turn out…
June somehow has graced Michigan with its presence however…mother nature seems to be playing tricks on warmth with us…
I will leave you with one to laugh at, this comes from the news of the totally forgetful. A woman was arrested for making a bank deposit, oh yeah! Apparently her envelope she used to deposit her after hours deposit was opened by the morning staff to which she indeed had money to deposit along with a cellophane baggie of meth… Don’t you just hate it when you give the cops your drugs unknowingly? Bank employees made sure the police had the proper address of the forgetful depositor and she has since been taken into custody and I believe her lab might be closed for business too…
