Good Morning… for those of you who did not watch American Idol last night here is what you missed. Four of the twelve performers were just outstanding. I think Chikezie’s performance on a Beatle Classic “She’s A Woman” was outstanding to say the least. He absolutely nailed the song and I believe his version of that song would be a top 40 hit. It is not easy to do super stars songs and most super stars who try to do other stars songs fail. I say this recalling famous country singers trying to sing an old rock song or vice versa where a famous rock star will try their hand at a country song. It’s like waiting for your pet to answer you in perfect English. English last nights Idol was all about the English, the true rock and roll legends the Beatles. When I was just a wee tadpole listening to music in our house in Sister Lakes Michigan, the songs that were on our radio was that of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and the list goes on. You would ever so often catch my dad doing his rendition of “Moon River” Funny thing is I thought it was his song, When ever we were out to eat (me eat him drink) he would always be asked to sing it, mostly piano bars, but he always got an earth roaring ovation. So it was easy to think it was his song, and one day years after I heard the original and my father had passed on. I thought, my god…his version was better… enough nostalgia, he surely could sing perhaps is where my Mickey Mousish high pitched voice comes from…Those who know me can state I lie… But, moving on…So last night was Lennon McCartney night on Idol, The Beatles hits are legendary, their song writings are classics and will be so for the end of time, England’s Lads did America proud on ever visit, I remember my sister’s wanting to go to Wrigley Field in Chicago to see them. Theirs was the Music that silenced Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller in our house… The girls would all be listening to Beatles 45’s in their Bedrooms and over shadowing my Mothers tunes… oh those were the days… I tell you what and I know there is a few of you perhaps quite a few that do not watch TV and could give a good rats rear on who is going to be the next American Idol, I don’t blame you, there is more then TV, Idol the family guy Hogans heros and dancing with the stars. Hell, I will be honest with you I love the History channel and to see older America, older Earth our finds and our failures… But if you were a Beatle fan, if you listened to their music do yourself a favor and click twice… by that I mean google search “American Idol” or use this URL http://www.americanidol.com/ and just below the 12 finalists is a drop box that changes it reads, Last Nights Dramatic Performances click on it and click on Chikezie’s name, a video similar to You Tube will appear and you will be entertained by his Version of She’s a Woman. It’s starts out like Oh Brother where are thou but my gosh the song is awesome. Like I said there were some very nice versions sang by the top 12 and some stink up the house versions…I have to laugh… the Boy Wonder… the winner of Star Search and Americas little sweetheart David Archuletta Absolutely stuck last night, however, his little snot nose will be safe… Go ahead, click on the sight, music lovers prove me wrong that Chikezie did not nail that song… I did not very much care a lot for him being in the top 12 but, last nights performance was awesome…He will not be the Idol. I fear America will vote with their heart instead of their listening skills…but each one of these performers will do well in the coming months via song, fame or just town hero. Those of you who do not watch TV, suck it up just this 180 second video then go back to your TV Hiatus… oh and Have an awesome Hump day, especially if you viewed the video, there are a few great performances and Carly was one, David Cook was awesome as well and the Aussy guy did a fine job too. The Rock and Roll Nurse…well perhaps is safe… no idea, but John Lennon I am sure was smiling down from the heavens on some performances… Have a great day A huge hug and a few Marty Pats Mart
