What are you waiting for?

It's been one of those days, running on 3 hours sleep, and facing a twelve hour shift from 7 p to 7a. Dreading going into work because we've been slammed the past few times I went in, to the point where lunch was a bag of chips and some water, if you were lucky. Forget sitting down for the thirty minutes that they take out of your check every day you work. My girls had been hyper all day, couldn't seem to get them settled down enough so that I could get some good rest before I went in. I admit, I was very irritable and snappy towards them. My one yr old has learned how to climb on the bed and so was standing over me and just jumping onto my stomach. Not a fun experience to be had when you're sleeping. I yelled for someone to get her and my 8 yr old told her, "come on annabelle, mom doesn't love us, she loves sleep more". I understand it's hard for my kids to see me sleep all day since they don't realize I'm up all night. I get to work, pleasantly surprised that the waiting room doesn't have ten people that's been there for three hours, and then find out i'm assigned to fast track, an area I love. Then 5 am comes around, and I get to leave early. YAY!! I go to wal mart and pick up breakfast items since we were out, and decide to pick up the stuff to make peanut butter cookies, since I haven't done it in a long time and yeah, I was feeling guilty about being grouchy. I get home, get the batter mixed up, and preheat the oven. Put my first batch in, and set the time for 8 min. This is usually not long enough, but reminds me to check the cookies. Well 6 min in I smell burned. I rush to the stove, and bottoms of the first batch were ruined, but tops were still uncooked. Well, hell. I move the rack up on, thinking it was too close to the element. I put the next round of cookies in and set my timer. It goes off, and these cookies are burned. Now I'm saying some choice words, but lower the oven temp and try yet again. Third time's the charm right? Nope, these cookies were underdone. AT least the bottoms weren't burnt. By this time, my feelings are "fuck it, they can eat the batter, right?". lol. So much for peanut butter cookies.
