well did i get a surprise ealier. I was talking to someone on here and ended up on yahoo, about the psp and they mentioned about a camera for the psp. Ok at first i thought hmmmm never heard about that, and i must admit i haven't been keeping up with the latest news on that front, but a quick search revealed pics!
Yes there is a camera that can fit the mini usb on the psp. I always wondered about the holes on the top as they looked like something should screw into them. So this opens up eye toy games and web camming via the psp and a wifi connection. The built in browser can already handle flash, which i didn't realise, and i must admit i am a bit wary of updating the firmware as there are some stories of the latest firmware turn the psp into a brick. As I have only just got mine a couple of months ago, i am a bit wary.
This led us to speculate what else could be done, and a comment on a forum for the psp said that skype can be run on it already! Now as i doubt if there is an official release, then i'd like to see screen shots of that running first before believing it. Still I wonder how hard it would be to create a voip client on the psp and allow you to make cheap or free calls via a free wifi hot spot. The person i was talking to said that he'd be happy with just yahoo running and we talked about if sony ported it, well looking on one psp news site, there seems to be a web page that allows you to use one of the main three IM clients via the psp. Ok i don't think i'd use it for text entry at the moment unless you could get hold of a mini keyboard, so entry is faster, or even voice recognition and convert voice to text.
This led me to see what else was available, and i thought official mem cards were just 1 GB, nope try 4GB. Now at around £80, not a bad price, i just wonder how many films i could store on that. I reckon with rough calculation, approx 4 maybe 5. I haven't seen how many i can store on a 1 GB card yet, so that calculation is really a guess.
well i just think there is more that can be done with the psp, and the future looks bright. Just a shame sony don't release a simple programming lanuage to let owners write their own apps and see what they can come up with.
