Well, at least I'm not out of a job!
After a somewhat long trip from New York City to Plano, Texas (mercifully bisected by a stop in Trumann, Arkansas - thanks, Dee and company!), I made it here Sunday night. I took Monday off at my boss's suggestion, and my start date became October 31.
People there are nice. I actually felt like I was being treated with respect when I came in. I learned today, in fact, that the people there who talk to me behind my back are actually saying good things about me!
So, on my second day on the job, I learned that they're pushing back the go-live date on my project... again... indefinitely. That should, by all rights, suck. However, when I was called into the office today, I was told that I'd be still working for them - but in a more direct capacity with the client they want to go live with. For that reason, this Sunday, they're putting me on a plane and sending me on an all-expenses-paid trip to Eugene, Oregon, where I'll be supporting the McKenzie-Willamette hospital out there. Food, car rental, expenses -- all comped.
I like the idea of a change of scenery... Shame I didn't get to see more of the people of Texas... or the Houston residents of LostCh-- erm... CherryTap that wanted me to visit. Unfortunately, I don't think I know anyone from here that lives in Oregon.
At least I have what looks like four months to figure it all out.
