"Bond. Jame Bond."

As uttered on-screen by Sean Connery, on October 5th, 1962 at the London Pavillion. This would become the start of a multi-movie phenomenon that would span generations of fans. From 6 main actors, 2 unofficial movies

, countless allies in the U.K., the U.S., and around the world...to the many villains and henchmen, to the exclusive 'Bond Girls' club, and right down to the spectacular open sequence to the London 2012 Olympics...it's simply amazing to to see this milestone.

I'm sure you will see countless articles in the news and online this weekend about this wonderful feat, but I figured I'd share my own little bit of BOND trivia...taken from the sleeve of the 30th Anniversary Soundtrack in 1992:

"...It was a Friday night phone call from Noel Rodgers, head of music at United Artists, that put John Barry to work on the orchestration of Monty Norman's 2-minute composition that would become 'The James Bond Theme' for the "Dr. No" soundtrack. Barry - then hot in England with his John Barry Seven jazz group - only know of the Bond character from its appearance in a London newspaper comic strip. For a fee of less than $1000, [and] without the benefit of 1st viewing the movie, and borrowing from his own previously-recorded "Bea's Knees" instrumental, Barry arranged the track on short notice. And what a track it was. The tune hit #13 in the U.K. charts, and Barry would be called back to score 11 James Bond movies over the course of the Bond Series."

Happy 50th Anniversary to '007' James Bond. Hope the rest of you enjoy the "James Bond Theme". :-)

So I FINALLY made it down to Philadelphia on April 23rd to see the Star Wars exhibit at the Franklin Institute. It was a dream come true to THIS fan of the Star Wars movies!! I'd like to give a quick thanks to Cheryl from H.R.C.C. and Alan & Alice at the DoubleTree Hotel Philadelphia - Broad & Locust streets for making this all possible. Thanks again to you all!! :) I was a little bored driving the 2 hrs to Philly. so I took some pics of my drive down - hope you don't mind. The museum pics are in reverse order, so the ones at the bottom of the album are the 1st ones. Just please be aware that some of the pics are good while others may not be. Some I used the flash & they came good; others the flash was a bad idea. Still others I used the "museum" setting on my Nikon to grab the lighting of the exhibits themselves; often it caught the light from a nearby exhibit or the one behind me. I apologize up front for this, but hey -- I'll take what I have!! The exhibit was fairly decent size, and since part of the Franklin Institute is geared toward children, they had a dozen exhibits in the specifically towards children - which I though was a neat idea. Everything from explaining how some of the droids worked, to how the "movie technology" related to modern technology (e.g. - how the Land Speeder's levitation related to Hovercrafts and Maglev Trains). So I had to take pictures, and quite often move out of the way of the 2 or 3 field trips there, and come back in a few minutes to actually read what was there. I could not get over the fact of the size of some of the models!! I kid you not that the "Millennium Falcon" model was at least 4 feet across!! It was the original model from Episode IV: A New Hope. Because of it's size, it didn't "move" much in the movie, and that's why smaller models were created for later movies. Another example from Episode IV: A New Hope was the opening sequence between the Rebel Blockade Runner and the Imperial Star Destroyer. We are led to believe that the Start Destroyer was at least 10 - 15 times as big as the Blockade Runner. However, in real life, the Blockade Runner was a staggering 4 - 4.5 ft. in length, while the Star Destroyer was a mere 2.5 - 3 ft in length!! It's amazing what they did with the filming of the movies. I could not believe all the movie articles they had in this exhibit -- I was surely impressed by the magnitude of it all, and all the various costumes, props, etc. that were present from the movie. I only spent 2 hrs in the entire exhibit, but to me it was 2 hrs well worth spent. Well, I will let you enjoy the pictures for yourself. If you're interested in seeing it, hurry -- it's only in until Sun. May 04. If you want more info, check out the museum's webpage: Star Wars - Franklin Institute MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU - ALWAYS!!

These Go To 11

"It's very special, because, as you can see --the numbers all go to 11. Right across the board. Eleven...11... And most amps go up to 10? Exactly. Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not 10. You see, most blokes are going to be playing at 10 -- you're on 10 on your guitar, where can you go from there? Where? I don't know. Nowhere! Exactly! What we do, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? You put it up to 11. Eleven. Exactly. One louder." --Nigel Tufnel explaining his amplifier in "This is Spinal Tap"

We're a Dying Breed......

To every guy that's said, "Sex can wait." To every guy that's said, "You're beautiful." To every guy that was never too busy to drive across town (or across the state) to see her. To every guy that gives flowers and a card when she is sick. To every guy who has given her flowers just because. To every guy that said he would die for her. To every guy that really would. To every guy that did what she wanted to do. To every guy that cried in front of her. To every guy that she cried in front of. To every guy that holds hands with her. To every guy that kisses her with meaning. To every guy that hugs her when she's sad. To every guy that hugs her for no reason at all. To every guy who would give their jacket up for her. To every guy that calls to make sure she got home safe. To every guy that would sit and wait for her for hours just to see her for ten minutes To every guy that would give his seat up. To every guy that just wants to cuddle. To every guy that reassured her that she was beautiful no matter what. To every guy who told his secrets to her. To every guy that tried to show how much he cared through every word and every breath. To every guy that thought maybe this could be the one. To every guy that believed in her dreams. To every guy that would have done anything so she could achieve them. To every guy that never laughed at her when she told him her dreams. To every guy that walked her to her car. To every guy that wasn't just trying to get laid. To every guy that gave his heart. To every guy who prays that she is happy even if you are not with her. ...This one blog is for you... Not many girls appreciate nice guys anymore... And because of this, there are not many left out there... If you are a nice guy repost this with " We're a Dying Breed " If you are a girl that thinks every guy should try to accomplish even a few of these repost this with: To the Nice Guys Left
