Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten by LateNiteFantasy© I saw her in the park one day Upon a bench, alone A small sad smile on her face As she looked upon the lawn Her face was as puzzle to me With fine lines that would not lie Yet she held a strange innocence And eyes as young as the sky I asked if I could sit with her She laughed and said, “Please do” She somehow seemed familiar Like an old friend I once knew I told her of my thoughts She smiled and said, “I know” “People always tell me that No matter where I go” I began to introduce myself But she already knew my name I asked again if I knew her Her answer was still the same She laughed and said something odd That once, more knew her eyes But times had changed and so she had Faded from their minds The sun was cast behind some clouds Which soon began to weep We quickly dashed from park To a dinner down the street Her hair was all a tangle Yet still it seemed to glow Like a farmer’s fresh tilled field Touched by a hint of snow We spoke and laughed for hours there Talking of this and that She had so many stories to share That I barely spoke, enrapt She told tales of people she knew Of Lovers and fools and kings Some made me laugh until I cried While others tore my heartstrings I could not help but stare at her Her eyes had such great depths Fathoms I knew I could never share If I drew a billion more breaths It was late as we left the shop And in the dark it seemed That some of the care had left her face And how her eyes did gleam I asked her had she a place to stay She said she’d been here before And she would from house to house And find a friendly door. I shook my head and told her no That was something I wouldn’t see I’d take the couch; she’d have my bed More stories would be her fee. We reached my loft and she spoke and sang Of tales, she had a plenty And I shared some stories of mine But it seemed she knew them already We both grew weary but did not want To leave each other’s side I slipped my hand into hers And I heard her sweetly sigh I kissed her once on the lips And in the light it appeared The touch of gray had left her hair And the face was cleansed of years We sang a lullaby together It was a tune I had never heard But somehow still, I sang along Knowing every word We feel asleep in each other’s arms And while night passed away I dreamed a dream of paradise Were I saw her everyday When I awoke she was gone Leaving a note read at a glance “Thank you. I feel alive again.” It was signed “Romance” Momentintime.jpg
