What are you waiting for?

I have been starving for the past two days so maybe I have book worms and it seems that is true of today. All good things come to those who wait and today is the day it finally came. This afternoon the post arrived and in it was the Essentially Oils Newsletter with this months missive of humour and technical as well as interesting and unusual information. For instance, two months ago, Charles, the owner and author of said missive, did an article about badgers which was of great interest and the information went a long way to explaining the behaviour of our nightly visitors. It seems they are loved and protected in some parts of the country because specifically, where he is based in Oxfordshire, they have had all manner of road diversions due to the badgers crossing it and especially the youngsters. Reading about this got me thinking that I really did need to thank Charles for saving my life and being such a help over the last ex many years, especially over the last three. He gave me much information in respect of the brain and a useful, life saving piece of data about Gingko Biloba which should not be taken in conjunction with undergoing surgery because it thins the blood - in order to keep the blood flowing to the brain and therein. It never said but I thought anything that thins the blood would make you bleed to death on the table!!! The copy was posted to an avid book work and it felt like I had waited ages and heard nothing but that is not unusual because Charles is very busy, due to his many talents and hats. He does much research and reading for his articles which is why I knew he was a book worm, that and the fact that he admitted about having late night reading sessions under the bed clothes in his youth. The newly arrived Newsletter contains an article with Charles wondering whether children were read bedtime stories in this day and age. He then explains what made him think of this and gives the story behind receiving my book plus all the data.. What is more, Charles did the most succinct book review and I could not have asked for a better review if I had sent it to an American Publishing House along with a huge fee for their services. I really could not believe it and had a hot flush/flash, went bright red from toe to head and then rushed in to show he who not only knows all but has the compeetoes. He was obviously not as elated as me but gave me an avuncular pat on the head if husbands can do that. I still cannot believe it, in fact I will put it on but then I had better not because the Newsletter is copywrited. I must send an email to Joyce in Goa who did the graphics and they will be over the moon. Actually, before I do anything, I must telephone Charles and thank him, with great profusion, for his wonderful review, as well as listing the book details in the newsletter. I think the best accolade was that he said, “The perfect bedtime story for all the family,” and he closes the subject by saying that it is his read of the month. That is the biggest compliment I could ever have especially from such an avid booklover. I must also thank him for enlightening me on a word that had escaped me in the forward. I could only think of the word ‘dear’ in context to ‘dear creatures’ but in Charles’ review he has penned ‘endearing creatures,’ and that is exactly what they are. I have just thought that if the jackets ever get out of the dust and into existence then the wording can be amended thereon. Oh, maybe if I ever finish the next one I can ask Charles if he would kindly write the forward for me. Thank you for being my first book worm in England!!
