So that I could fill in the blanks of how it might have been

and what might have been twenty years from now.
Wondering why it could not be forever because we only have this One Chance!

I would want to take you for a walk, anywhere that you wanted to go and hold your hand.
Squeezing it tenderly as we laughed and talked of what may lie around the next bend.
A walk along the River would be delightful, the sounds of nature singing it's song.
Watching the Deer grazing in a field, wouldn't that be grand?
One Chance!
We would go to dinner, then somewhere with light music and a dance floor.
When the right song played I would ask you for a dance and revel in holding you close,
I would whisper in your ear how beautiful that I think you are and how great it is for me to have this One Chance. Why couldn't it be more?
One Chance!
My heart would sink, but I would look you in the eyes
and let you know that I am so glad that I got that One Chance!
One Chance!
Then I would want to take you someplace where the stars were shining bright.
I would point out to you my favorite constellation
and show you how to find it so that whenever you gazed upon it from that time on, you would think of me and I of you.
If we would only follow it's light.

I would pull you close and lift your chin so you could see into my eyes
and know that they are the windows to my heart.
I would tell you how I wish that these fleeting moments in time I would want to freeze.
I would not be able to resist pressing my lips to yours,

I would want to take you in my arms and gently lay you down.
