Time of slumber do I dread
That is when the dreams come
I fear the time that I'm abed
Where do these demons come from
Dark shadows with hungry eyes
Seek my soul to devour
There is no plan I can devise
To escape their dark power
They seek to rip my mind apart
Refusing are they to be ignored
In my deep sleep do they start
My sanity becomes a sword
Keeping them at bay a chore
Their numbers never ending
As I hack I seek a way, a door
My mind I keep defending
Creatures from a life gone awry
Into my dreams they bite and claw
The rest I need they deny
With morning's light to withdraw
Nightmares come from my life
Nightmares come from my mind
Nightmares bringing to mind strife
Nightmares to be confined
