now is a moment
sliced from eternity
by our attention
looking forward
the unknowns we grasp
cannot be held, not
in hope of more than we are
in fear of less than we will be
the now that we share and
choose to so foolishly
waste trying to shape
what we will have
is also changed by
that hope of more
that fear of less
of what is not, yet,
our now has become
changed by, shaped by
what we hope, we fear
the ghostly memory
of tissue promises and lies
that reshape the moments
we will slice from eternity as
the next moment rushes to us
