ONce again you'll have to look up the titles, but they are the newest releases from these artists. I am technologically retarded enough to avoid downloading music, and I still buy the cd's, because somethimes there are gems on there that make the cd, but the world will never hear.
Kings of Leon----The new release from these guys, I'll be honest, I've listened to about 20 times, and I don't think they're as great as the reviewers say. Granted, I do like their sound, but I get the feeling that if Fugazi and Neil Young ever had a child, its name would be Kings of Leon.
Some of they vocals seem disjointed from the band, like he's singing a whole different song.
I like the simplistic feel of the band. They make me feel that I could play these songs, and quite quickly. And there is a fuzzy sound that I love. Sometimes the bass, sometimes the guitar.
The vocals fit the band, raw, but listenable.
I give it a 6 out of 10
Joss Stone---I love Joss Stone's voice, very soulful, very strong. Her backing music on this disc sound more modern, and I like it. I felt on her previous two albums she was missing out, because her sound was from a different era. But she modernized her sound, and it fits.
My biggest problem with this cd is she does the same thing Mariah Carey does, uses her voice as an instrument, and mixes it in way too much. If she would cut it back a tad, and make it sound like she's part of a band, and not just singing, I think it would have done her more justice.
The current single, I could listen to all day. And I bet I've seen the video 30 times, and I'm mesmerized by it every time. I like this cd to relax to
I give it a 7 out of 10
Amy Winehouse---I saw her video first, and it was a very catchy song. I'm finally sold that I find her very pretty, and now that we got her cd, I think she's the whole package.
Her CD brings me back, to a lounge act type of feel on most the songs.
Wherin Joss Stone should mix back, her music fits how she's mixed above everyone. Lots of horns, which I love, and a jazz club type of feel on most the songs.
The rehab song is incredibly catchy, and I can't listen to it enough. She has a slower one that she's released, and that's awesome too. I like this CD alot, but my biggest fear is she shot the moon on the first one, and her second one will suck.
I give it 9 out of 10 (be warned, she mixes in alot of things I personally like, so its a high rating)
