T.T.D. (Mother's Day Cards)

Good Morning and welcome to TTD. Well it’s not really much of a Tirade but, my topic for consideration is this. Trying to make 100% content is impossible correct? I have often heard the fact is you can please most of the people most of the time and some of the people some of the time. But you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Soooo with that said, the fictional rule would be if you have 100 people and you please 95 of them you are way ahead of the game…right? Ok, let’s throw in Head teacher of Johnstown Primary School: Helen Starkey. Who would rather please 5% of the people and let 95% suffer. Her choice of not allowing a tradition which has been around for numerous years that which is the making of Mother’s Day Cards for the children’s mothers. She feels because 5% of the children do not have Mothers and would be hurt by the fact all the other children who do have mothers and were making cards for them. So instead of the possibility of those children it might hurt she would rather all children to be the same in which no one would make a mothers day card at the primary school at all. Well Frau Bulure what next the burning of books? Makes no sense to me her deduction of not allowing any kids the opportunity to make at school a card or anything. I remember making a sculpture one year in grade school years. The reason I recall it, is this. When my mother passed away or actually far sooner then that, my brother and myself had the task of cleaning out her home in Florida and rummaging some stuff throwing other stuff away and passing out remaining keepsakes to the other sisters in my family. Yeah that is a tough time, the inevitable end draws near and you reminisce over certain historical items that your parents pack-ratted over the years of things that were precious to them. I found a bookcase I made for her in woodshop in 8th grade that was made out of cherry wood and remember her just fawning over it. I was pleased, and when I came to that piece it brought back all memories of school years at that time….wow, how something of that nature can take one back.. So anyway the book case was there and then inside the bookcase along with a gazillion reader’s digest, nation Geographic’s...you name it, it was there. Was this ash tray sort of looking item. It was painted orange and blue.. I remember holding it up and saying to Butch, “ What in the hell! Is this?” He started laughing and said. “I your attempt to make an ashtray in 2nd or 3rd grade…” I said “liar! , no way…” But after close examining of it I seen the words badly spelled, (Wow that part of my life has not changed!) Happy Momer’s day… I am thinking the teacher thought my M was a t and an h but, regardless it was my work, she kept it in that book case… … You know… You can’t go back in time nor can you bring things back, but you can never have anyone take away those special moments… 5% or 95%.... I think she should reconsider her actions and allow those children to make things for their mothers… You just never know, you just never know.. what memories… those times bring back… especially in a world like we have today. Traditions are being massacred daily for the right of the few and taking the rights of the many and sooner or later… well, lets just hope much later…. Please have a wonderful day.. A huge hug, and many pats. Gosh lets keep some traditions.. Marty
