What are you waiting for?

I moved the kitchen around the other week because I was fed up with the stupid telephone falling over on the kitchen window sill above the sink. So, I went to town and moved everything around, cleaning at the same time. It took a while to find a new home for the phone because it needs a socket but I put it next to the hob and moved the kettle to where the coffee machine was. Finding it a little cluttered there I moved the coffee machine next to the telephone which was better because it does not give off the quantity of steam that the kettle does. I even found a cover for the phone to stop splashes from the hob, not that I splash too much because I hate cleaning hobs so prevention is easier than cure. The cover was courtesy of First Choice. I just took out the courtesy socks, toothbrush, sleep mask and a packet of toothpaste and put it on the phone. He who has the compeetoes came home and went ballistic but I stood my ground and he grunted in a grudging manner and left the room, whilst I carried on cleaning the kitchen window. I have noticed that he does not like to watch me work when it does not concern him. The next week was filled with grumblings that everything was in the wrong place, presumably because he had to walk back and forth first thing in the morning just to make the coffee fix of the day, by virtue of the fact that the filter coffee was in the cupboard closest to where the kettle now reclined. The kettle though was just next door to the instant coffee and a whisker away from the fridge so that was no problem and even the cups are right there. I don't know what the problem was, maybe it was the early morning walk or maybe he could not get used to the change. Well, it took him long enough to get used to the clock being moved onto a different wall and having just got used to that I changed it back - that was a necessity and not perverseness. Recently though, he who knows all must have been so confused that he could not figure things out in order to make a filter coffee. A huge sigh hit the airways, a mass calculated appliance of science moving session occurred and the coffee machine went back to its old haunt and likewise the kettle. However, the telephone has stayed put and that is really what I wanted to achieve more than anything. So I pretended to be really put out by all this and was only really put out because I still had to clean the other window which will mean moving the coffee machine out of my way. Yes, the kitchen might be light and airy but it is at the cost of having two dirty windows to clean in order to let a comparative amount of light through. It seems that I got what I wanted and he who knows all got what he wanted and he overlooked my telephone moving experience due to winning the kettle and coffee percolation battle. So, I reckon that one out of three ain't bad at all. I must remember this ploy next time I feel like a change. Move three things completely and it ensures that at least one will be left in the altered state.
