Good Morning and Hello there from Snowy Michigan. Where today many, many schools are closed. How ya doing? I am good, finally over the Packers lack luster showing, YUCK!!!! Ok, I am better…I think. You know I was thinking last night while I waited to see the next weeks previews of medium and was surprised when it was announced that medium will be on again in four weeks. I should not have been surprised due to the writers strike being in it’s 4 or 5th month and who knows perhaps even longer. Then it hit me. You know, I have found other things to do to occupy my time instead of watching TV at night and I think others have if they are not beginning to already do so. I think the real test will be if and when they resolve this writers strike, will the people come back to watching and how quick will they be turned off if when the writers do start putting together shows that are sub par or less entertaining will the people just be gone totally? My thoughts are this. I think we will have a quick hook. Where as we will not stand for crappy TV. It’s apparent that Hollywood and the whole TV industry is scrambling to keep their viewers by placing about a gazillion episodes of weight loss shows, survivor is going to be back on and it just finished up a month ago, and I am sure the Mole and Amazing race will try to grab audiences to watch their thrown together shows. And what is with all the celebrity shows, is it because no work makes for no pay? Hmmm that is a funny concept. It’s apparent celebrity’s are doing what they can to get work. Just look at the Donald and his show the Apprentice. It’s the celebrity version. Just how many different biggest loser episodes can one watch? I mean holey smokes the whole world will be thin as a rail if the strike lasts much longer. My point is this. The screen guild and the writers do not want to give in. The Actors are doing what they can to stay in the lime light… but here is a thought if it last’s much longer… next years award shows will have nominees like the Beauty and the Geeks, Survivors cast members and the rest of the reality show stars who really are not stars just play one on TV. Who knows perhaps PGA Golfers and Major League Baseball and Soccer stars will get the nod. As for me, I play the game Civilization more and more at night while the Bell Gals watch daily tapings of Ellen and other shows that they could watch over and over again… Mandy watches this goofy show called that 70’s show… she no longer asks me to watch it after she said “ Dad you would love this show, sit down and watch it with me” I said “ Mandy, darling… I lived the 70’s” and then took one look at the show and said “ Yep! Big collars, bell bottoms, straggly haired gals, and long hair boys… been there done that…don’t need any more, thank you just the same” She laughed and said…” I bet you were cute in that big collar and baggy bells…” I smiled and nodded… So as the writers strike continues… I continue to write, I continue to move on past TV and wonder, will it get me back?... Baseball never did… A huge Tuesday morning Huggy and a pat and a pinch! Mart
