THIS IS IT! PEACE AND IMPEACH, Linda Boyd Director, Washington For Impeachment Impeachment Happening in Congress Right Now! Submitted by davidswanson on Mon, 2008-06-09 23:17. Impeachment Congressman Dennis Kucinich is on the floor of the House of Representatives right now introducing 35 articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush. Yes, 35. He'll be reading for a while. Watch C-Span Now! If you don't have cable, go to a bar and tell them to put it on C-Span 1! Or watch at the Video/Audio tab at http://c-span.org Take your laptop outside and turn the volume up! More details coming later tonight! Action in the House coming later this week! Good websites to watch for updates and actions: http://kucinich.us http://democrats.com http://afterdowningstreet.org Let Justice roll down like waters in a mighty stream . . .There's going to be at least one article of impeachment that interests you and perhaps even mentions you. Watch for updates. Here is another reason to call House members, particularly on the Judiciary and Oversight Committees; also any who are among the 40 supporting Cheney's impeachment : 1-2-3 Action Alert HOUSE MEMBERS' REQUEST TO MUKASEY: APPOINT SPECIAL COUNSEL TO INVESTIGATE INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES 1. What From Randy Sandberg, Silicon Valley Impeachment Coalition This is good news: Have you read the latest letter signed by 56 House Members including Chairman Conyers, ZOE LOFGREN, Dennis Kucinich, PETE STARK, MIKE HONDA, and Robert Wexler requesting that Attorney General Mukasey "appoint special counsel to investigate whether the Bush Administration's policies regarding the interrogation of detainees have violated federal criminal laws"??? If not, you'll be pleased to know the letter states "[t]here is mounting evidence that the Bush Administration has sanctioned enhanced interrogation techniques against detainees under the control of the United States that warrant an investigation." This, in my mind, *is* a BIG deal. We should call our Reps, those who signed it AND those who did not, and urge the ones who did sign it to pursue their goal as strongly as possible and those who did not to both back it and then pursue it with all their might. Next step... Impeachment! :-) Mukasey letter attached; see pages 2-4 for signatories. Note from Cynthia Papermaster: Washington Post article Lawmakers Urge Special Counsel Probe of Harsh Interrogation Tactics 2. Why Special Counsel is a Justice Department function, meaning the administration, not Congress, will be gathering evidence. This development is on the same level as the firing of U.S. Attorneys issue. What if Mukasey refuses their request? Another constitutional crisis? But a more serious one in my judgment, especially when added to the mounting accusations of the Administration's lawlessness. 3. Take This Action Call, email, and schedule appointments to visit the Representatives who signed the Mukasey letter when they return from DC for the Congressional Recess June 28 - July 6. The list of signers are pages 2-4 of the letter attached. Please visit Representatives who support impeachment already; list here: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/30331/#federal%20co-sponsors%20of%20H.%20Res.%20333 I will organize delegations to visit Barbara Lee and Pete Stark. Ask, beseech, demand that they start impeachment for Cheney, whether or not Mukasey appoints Special Counsel. Cynthia Papermaster, California Impeachment Coalition
