As I was sitting here today, just trying to find jobs in the area, I decided I wanted a little “music” to listen to. So, I looked up Britney Spears, because I happen to like her song “piece of me.” What I got, was a bombardment of Britney bashing videos. So the thought that crossed my mind was, “Why are people so judgmental.” So I started to think. Are people that insecure and unhappy with their lives, that they must find an outlet at an other’s expense? It starts in grammar school. Children taunt, tease, and bully others because they think its “funny”. Well, who taught them this? This isn’t something that is just part of a person’s “personality” it is part of values and learning. I’m almost willing to bet, that if you know of a child who is doing such a thing, listen to their parents when you’re out at an event. More than likely, they’re going to sit there and talk about others as if they’re “better” than the person of the subject. Is this really what things have come to? Teaching our children how to judge others and make them feel less than a great person? Its all psychology people!! I have taken many courses in it. When I was in high school, I was subject to a lot of judgmental people. It hurt, it pissed me off, but most of all, it made it hard for me to trust people. Those I thought were close to me, really weren’t. They were just looking for another person to mock in their lives. They say, that a person who is insecure about themself, or has something to hide, will lash out at others in order to keep their secrets at bay. Its like the paparazzi. They will try to find whatever dirt they can on someone, to make themselves better. Who gets joy in that? I don’t care who Ben is dating, or that Britney had a break down. I know, that from experience, there are times in life that are devastating, and for a period of time, you are not yourself. I’ve been there, I’ve done that. I have one of the most judgmental families on this planet. I don’t need the paparazzi because my family is their own form of the paparazzi. If you’re going through something, they all know it because they just can’t keep their mouths shut, and will be the first to say, “well I heard this, is it true?” or “are you alright? I heard what happened.”. No Privacy!! So once again, the trust factor comes in. We’re teaching our children how to be crude, untrustworthy, individuals. Where is that going to get them? Absolutely nowhere. Children should learn to embrace all people, no matter what. There should never be conditions put on who children should be able to have as a friend. They don’t know what they’re doing, they are just expressing what they have learned. This is supposed to be the “Land Of The Free.” Our “Government” has already put a limit on our freedoms, so why should we put a limit on our own freedoms of living a meaningful, and accepting life? So, in closing, why not open your heart up to those you never thought anything about? Look inside and see what kind of person you may find. You may expand your mind beyond anything you ever imagined thanks to these people. Teach your children that its not okay to taunt, tease, and bully, and that if they see it going on, they should stand up for what is right. You’d be amazed at what a difference in the world this will make. What difference in your life it will make. Embrace those who you know are having a rough time and just need someone to talk to, not another judgmental idiot in their life. You never know, you may make the difference in the outcome of someone else’s future. Anyhow, take care, much love, and enjoy your week.
