Witches can be many things...they can be loving, they can be terrifying, they can be lovers, healers, daughters, sons, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters. Witches are not just women...they are men also. Witches are people who believe in the magic of birth and of death and of life inbetween. Witches believe that they are always learning and that they have the power to bend things to their will...in other words...they have the power to understand and make things happen. In a sense we are all witches...only some of us would rather keep it hidden or ignore it and others like myself are not afraid to try it on for size, let it shine, praise it and have pride in it.
Most Witches believe in a Mother Goddess and a Father God rather than just one male deity or perhaps they only believe in a Mother Goddess or perhaps they simply believe in an entity that has no gender at all.
Witches are as old as time ancient, but as new as tomorrow reborn. I think the most important thing about being a witch is understanding how important nature is...the earth, the balance of all things. And understanding that because we are such a part of it...so tightly woven in that we can understand its language if we listen hard and deep enough. You can feel the heartbeat, the rhythm of the world if you put your ear to the earth. And knowing that there is this kinship and loving it with such intensity that you can accept the balance without concluding that there is only good and only evil.
Witches are balance or that is what they strive for. They are accepting of what was, what is and hope for what will be...most importantly they know they are partly responsible for all of it. These are just a few things that witches are. It would be impossible for me or for anyone to tell you in one post or a thread or a forum of what a witch truly is because a witch is a myriad of mysteries.
Christianity has done such a lovely job of desecrating the image of the witch. An evil, shriveled old woman who fucks Satan and casts spells on people. Wipe that image from your mind. If you believe that, you do not understand the witch.
You ask what I am and who I am. Simply put I am Natasha...no more no less. I embrace the witch inside of me yes...but I am more than just someone who believes in the artistry and science of witchcraft and so is the witch.
