Yesterday was an interesting day…. 2 was world “deaths” and 2 winners in sports… and Monday Night Football!!!! First the today news…. Not really much news in it… but it is something to write about…. Today- Monday, November 06, 2006 at 7pm is Monday Night Football with the Seahawks vs. the Oakland Raiders… that should be an interesting game. Now on to the News from yesterday. Yesterday was the running of the prestigious New York Marathon, and for the first time in 10 years, an African male did not win. That honor went to Brazilian man who ran the marathon for the first time, and with that honor also went the honor of being the first ever South American person to win the NYM. On the female side of the race, last year’s winner, Jelena Prokopcuka became the first woman in more than a decade to win two straight titles in New York. And outside the world of sports…. Iraqi Dictator Saddam Hussein was found guilty and sentenced to death by Hanging for Crimes against Humanity. Him, his half-brother and another former Iraqi official all received death, while 2 others, I believe, got apx 15-20 years and one other was acquitted. His defense team is appealing….. In the US. Former Ku Klux Klan Imperial Wizard Samuel Bowers, who was serving a life sentence for the 1966 bombing death of a civil rights leader, died in a Mississippi state penitentiary. Don’t ask me why I wrote this, I normally wouldn’t, but for some reason I felt compelled to.
