I Face The Flag,
September 11, 2001
I face the flag,
With a tear in my eye,
And pride in my heart,
Forever may she fly.
I listen to the song,
With sorrow ringing in my ear,
And my voice cracks,
On the words so dear.
I watch the workers,
Covered with dust and sweat,
Proudly they work,
They haven’t given up yet.
I hear the prayers,
Filled with sorrow and pain,
Families being brave,
While tears fell like rain.
I feel the fear,
Of a world turned upside down,
And I feel the strength,
From nations the world ‘round!
