Dear Customer,
I know I’m just a retail salesperson (or retail whore in your view), but I thought I’d make a few points clear to help you with your holiday shopping:
1. I am here to help you find the products that you’re looking for. When I approach you, it is my goal to be friendly and helpful, not push needless items on you!
2. If I check and I tell you I’m out of a product, I am out of that product. I’ll look on the computer and then go look in the store room for it. If I can’t find it or it’s out of stock, no amount of fussing or outright hostility will make the product magically appear.
3. Yes I know that X is the store manager. That’s nice that you know who X is, but I can’t give you special discounts or sell products that are out of stock because you know who X is.
4. I’d really rather not ring up your purchase because there are three other customers waiting to be helped in my department. We have cashiers to ring up your purchases and they are much faster on a register than I am!
5. Please don’t rebuff me when I ask if I can assist you, then complain to a manager four minutes later that no one will help you. I offered, you refused, enough said?
6. As you can see, it’s pretty busy here right now. If you’re just pumping me for information so you can buy from JunkMart or E-Bay, please don’t waste my time. Products cost less there because the sales help is either non-existent or doesn’t care. I pride myself on my product knowledge and experience. That’s why items may cost more here.
7. I will try to make your holiday shopping here pleasant as can be. This is a challenging time of year to be a shopper and even worse when you’re the sales person trying to help shoppers!
Have a Merry Christmas!
Your Sales Person
