Im in denver...yay.... and work is so far awesome.... bb king was friday and yesterday was ncaa frozen 4 championship and last night after that was ministry at the ogden theatre.... and i crushed all of it.... so financially im kikn ass....and these shows r just a warm up... so yah ...im havn a killer time out here in denver. so im just logging on to blog this and check out some msgs/cmnts. so ill be back in a few days to let ou know whats goin down :P and post another blog... ima busy dick. so notta lotta time to fu. muah... Lacy Batty Cakes
3/4 cup white cornmeal 1/2 teaspon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup buttermilk 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter Combine cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Combine buttermilk and egg. Stir in cornmeal mixture until cornmeal absorbs liquid. Preheat griddle to 400 degrees. Lightly butter griddle. Use 1 tablespoon batter for each cake. Bake four at a time. Bake 2 to 3 minutes, until cakes begin to bubble and bottoms are golden. Turn and bake 2 to 3 minutes longer. Serve with Kentucky Derby Hash. Makes 24 cakes.

Kentucky Derby Turkey Hash
6 tablespoons butter 1 1/2 cups chopped onion 1/3rd cup chopped red pepper 2 cups fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon instant chicken bouillon granules 2 cups milk 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 4 cups diced cooked turkey 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley Melt butter in large, heavy skillet. Saute onion and pepper until tender, about 8 minutes. Stir in mushrooms. Saute 2 minutes longer. Remove pan from heat. Stir in flour and instant bouillon. Gradually stir in milk and Worcestershire sauce. Return to heat. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in turkey and parsley. Heat through. Serve over Lacy Batty Cakes. Serves 6.

Kentucky Burgoo
This Kentucky stew is traditional anytime, but especially at Derby parties. There are as many recipes for Burgoo as there are cooks in Kentucky so feel free to improvise. INGREDIENTS: 3 lb. chicken, ready to cook 2 lb. beef tips 12 c. water 1 T. salt 1/4 t. pepper 6 slices Bacon 2 large cans tomatoes 1 c. cubed peeled potatoes 2 c. sliced carrots 1 c. chopped cnion 1 c. chopped celery 1 c. chopped green pepper 2 T. packed dark brown sugar 1/4 t. crushed dried red pepper 4 whole cloves 1 clove garlic, minced 1 bay leaf 4 ears of corn 2 cans Butter Beans 1 c. sliced okra (can substitute 1 package of frozen) 2/3 c. all-purpose Flour PREPARATION: In 10-quart Dutch oven or stock pot combine chicken, beef, water, salt and pepper. Cover; cook til meat is tender, about 1 hour. Remove chicken from broth leaving the beef tips in it. Remove chicken from bones, discard skin and bones, and cube. Set aside. Cook bacon til crisp; drain, reserving drippings. Cruble bacon,

Kentucky Bourbon Balls
These traditional Kentucky candies are great for a Derby party or any special occasion. INGREDIENTS: 1 stick butter 1 box powdered sugar 1 cup chopped pecans 4 T. Bourbon 1 large package semi-sweet chocolate chips (real chocolate, not imitation) 1 T. paraffin wax PREPARATION: Cream butter and sugar then add chopped pecans. Mix well and add in the Bourbon. Chill for an hour to make it easier to handle then roll into small balls. Refrigerate overnight. Melt the chocolate and paraffin in a double boiler until smooth and well mixed. Dip the chilled Bourbon balls into the chocolate and place on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Chill until hard.

Chocolate Pecan Pie
This delicious treat is served at Churchill Downs and at Kentucky Derby parties everywhere on Derby Day. INGREDIENTS: 3 eggs, lightly beaten 1 c. light corn syrup 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 1 c. chopped pecans 1/4 t. salt 1/2 t. vanilla 6 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate morsels 1 9 inch deep dish pie shell, unbaked PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix all ingrediaents and pour into pie shell. Bake for 10 minutes and reduce heat to 350 degrees for 35 minutes more. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Sick Of Being Tired. Tired Of Being Sick.
I'm sick of the computer, but sick of having no where to go. i'm tired of little kids and talk of relationships. my insides are melting together...I'm kind of worried. Kentucky Derby "non Alcoholic Mint Julep"
Kentucky Derby 4 Mint sprigs -- up to 5 sprigs 1 1/2 cups Sugar 2 cups Cold water 3/4 cup Lemon juice 1 1/2 quarts Ginger ale Lemon slices -- thin (garnish ; optional ) "A mock mint julep drink." Rinse the mint and discard stems. Place the sugar, water, and lemon juice in a medium-sized bowl, mix, and stir in the mint leaves. Allow to stand for 30 minutes. Fill a large pitcher with ice cubes and strain the liquid over the ice. Add the ginger ale and lemon slices, and serve.

Catching Up
Well I've been promising this blog for quite some time now. I've kind of fallen into the routine of being back at sea and if you take a look at the slide show you'll see what that's all about. I am currently cruising Carnival's Holiday ... the oldest and smallest ship in the fleet. After working for Princess quite a few things here were shocking. The first time I saw the cabin I thought that there must have been some kind of mistake or that it was just a temporary arrangement. The cabins are barely big enough for one person let alone the two that they squeeze in here. The dressing rooms are like little closets as well and moving around each other to get changed is a challenge. The stage and the shows are good and the people that work here are great. I've made a few friends and have plans to visit a few of them at the contracts end ... that's going to be one random trip. Lung Cancer Awareness I am a person who lost a love one two years ago to this day to lung cancer. The person in my life was my mom that I lost. So, Let me tell you my little story. My mom went to her regular doctor and they sent her for a scan to see if her stomach didn't have a ulcer. The tech let the scan go up a little higher then he should have let it, and it should up something on her lungs that wasn't normal. They show the doctors and the doctors was like they needed to find out what it was. So my mom went back to the doctors and they did 4 test on her to figure out if it was cancer or not. Which cause my mom to worry and stress about it. They said it was 85% chance it was cancer and they wanted to remove it. They didn't tell any of the family the risk of her coming threw the surgery with a full recover was low. So, She went ahead and did the surgery. And they plan to pay subjects as much as 600 dollars to smoke their pot. The study examines how marijuana affects brain function and cognition, with particular attention to the duration of use and the age of first use. The measure is brain imaging studies and achievement tests, such as for math and verbal skills. Robert Block is an associate professor in the school's Department of Anesthesia and the lead investigator on the project. He says the group is looking for pot users and control subjects who consume alcohol and tobacco -- but not marijuana -- to participate in the study. Subjects receive 20 dollars for an initial screening session. Those that participate fully pocket 600 dollars. Lost But Found
The clothes slid off, leaving me standing bare to the world. Or at least to the four walls of my home. Broken camera in my hand, I laid down and attempted to capture the perfect image. But with a broken lens, the camera persisted to defy me. In frustration, the camera was retired... With a thank you for all it had achieved, but with quick abandonment for a newer model. Time has passed. And the memory card that had once lived in the broken camera, found it's way once again to my hands. Curious, or perhaps needing the larger storage capacity, I placed it in to the new camera I now have. Surprised, I found a few images that had been left behind. Neglected. Perhaps I had viewed them as failures in my attempt at photography. Perhaps that was then. Today, I find a certain pleasure in them. While the images are not crystal clear, the blur somehow offers a different perspective. A form of art. Sometimes, when we love someone... We look past the imperfections.

Some days it hits me harder than others. Alot of my friends on here know that my daughter Makayla was diagnosed with Leukemia in June of last year. She was only 15 months. In about 2 weeks she will begin 2 months of pretty intense chemotherapy before going on to her maitenance phase. I have had an awful day today. Thinking about how she has been through and how she knows much more about hospitals and chemotherapy and needles that any 2 year old should know and understand. I guess i am sending out this bulletin so u can all keep her in your thoughts and prayers over the next little while. The next 2 months are gonna be pretty hard on her physically and emotionally. Rip Grandma, We're Gonna Miss You So Much

Going Home
After a long emotional week I'm going back to Durham today. My heart is still broken and will be for a very long time. My Uncle meant the world to me. I promised him I would make sure the baby I have in September will know of him and love him just as much as Joshua and Sara do. I still can't really eat. I sleep maybe an hour at the time. It's gonna be rough. It still doesn't seem real. Like a horrible nightmare that I'll wake up from at any moment. Thought I'd be out of tears to cry, but they seem to have a continuous streak down my cheeks. Well, this is my first entry here, as can be noted by the subject matter of the post. Would like to issue a greeting to anybody whom stops by and a good day to all. First and foremost, I'm not the most social of people; somewhat reserved, at times even taciturn, in public situations. However, whithin this forum of internet socializing it can become easier for one to reach out and communicate with others. My great nephew Alden was born on March 25th with Heart trouble. His parents ony held him for a few minutes before the flew him to Dupont hospital, a couple days after he had surgey on his little heart,he than was hooked up to so many machines,last week the doctors thought he was doing good so they tried to remove one of the machines than he crashed so they had to perfom another surgery. A Little Frustrated
I just don't get it!!! I have gone out of my way to help others with their contests and whatever else they needed but when I needed help while I was in a contest I didn't get any help from my friends. Why is that? Wow, It's been a long time since I have seen some of the people on my myspace account. I have friends from, old jobs, high school, and even from my child hood. I had to work a funeral service today. This was the song the family picked out to play... I can honestly say working in a funeral home has been the best thing for me. Yes it's sad because these families have lost their loved ones. But for me, it's made me appreciate life that much more. My big cat Jack died today - he was the huge 25 lb black and white cat. He was killed by the idiot local vet. He was a bit dehydrated, but the vet injected him with enough fluid that he gained 3 and a half pounds and the water was running out his pours. None of my cats are ever going back to that vet.

Who Do They Think They Are?
They told us, we could not have Shannon Kelsey's remains to bury. They said the state would not allow it, it was against health codes. We were told they would keep our child for 16 days and then "dispose of it". My God, she/he is a child...not medical waste. The 16 days have now past, anything left of our child we could have buried is gone. I feel so useless. I was not able to protect our baby while in my tummy...and then we couldnt even take care of our baby after its death.

Bad Weeks Go On

When you help someone out you care about and they give you nothing but the run around. Not Designed For Alone
I don't do well being alone. Right now, my fam is off visiting other fam in TN, and I'm at home alone. Of course, the first thing I did was clean house...I'm kinda OCD like that. Why Worry About The Dead?
Why do people try so hard to find the graves of their anscestors? Why worry about people who are dead? There are so many people I know who spend more time in graveyards than they do around people who are alive. I don't understand this, Could someone please tell me why they do that? I know enough about my family history, I am part Irish, part Cherokee, and probably plenty of other things. A Final Resolution
Last night I finally told someone that I cannot be with them any longer. I can not take the steady stream of lies and deceit from them. I gave them multiple opportunities to gain my trust back and over and over they lost it. I kept hope because I have seen them be the person they should be and be true to themselves and others. This Morning
I woke up in the way someone does when they're late for an important event in their agenda of the day, hour, and or minute... My body jolted outa bed, eyes staring at the alarm clock, I yelled "OMG! They're late for school!" The clock read 8:32 a.m. and almost immediately my mind went from high meter panic to a low dose DUH! It's saturday.
