The Earth Moves Beneath me
Okay so for those you of you who don’t watch the fucking news, I suppose I will fill you in on my fucking day. Ahhh!!!!
Okay it all started with a horrible wake up call @ 7am, we had a huge earthquake wake us all. It came out to about a 6.6 on the rector scale on the big island of Hawaii, Oahu felt the aftershock of it which came out to about a 5.8. Still it was pretty strong and not to be taken lightly, but needless to say as quickly as it began it ended.
Shortly after the quake was over our power went out. Now for those of you who know me …this has happen already to us, but this time it wasn’t just the base. The whole island went powerless, I just regain power about an hour ago and I’ve been answering all the mail for those of you who do watch the news. I am pretty much done so I started to write this blog to let out my frustrations.
I don’t think the island was prepared for something like this and that is totally understandable. People flipping out cause they can’t get gas buy or cook food (although big thanks to those small business that did stay open to feed us).
Just be aware that half the island is still in complete darkness and very well be till late tomorrow afternoon. Hawaiian Electric had all their computers go into safe mode and have had to reboot the electricity one section at a time. It’s a small price to pay so we don’t have complete failure of power, if a disaster does happen, so kudos.
So don’t worry guys, we are fine and that’s all that counts, pray for those on the big island though, they are still powerless as well and have had some devastating damage to the island. Though there were no fatalites, there were plenty of injuries.
And for those of you who do want to read about what happened here are a few links to articles you can check out. Best wishes and be glad that you are on the mainland at the moment.
Love,
Me
