Mantras are prescribed syllables to protect the mind. What we want to protect our mind from are attachment, anger, ignorance, and so on. When combined with the four opponent powers, mantra recitation is very powerful in purifying negative karmic imprints on our mindstream. While we recite mantras, we should also be thinking and visualizing in a beneficial way so that we are building up constructive habits in the mind. In the Vajrayana practice, mantras are recited in Sanskrit, rather than being translated into other languages. The reason for this is that there is a special beneficial energy or vibration that is induced by the sound of the syllables. While doing recitation, we can concentrate on the sound of the mantra, on its meaning, or on the accompanying visualizations that the master has taught.

The mantra OM MANI PADME HUM (or HUNG) sometimes gives rise to fanciful or mysterious translations. However, it is simply one name of Chenrezig placed between two sacred and traditional syllables, OM and HUM. * OM represents the body of all Buddhas; it also begins nearly all mantras; * MANI means "jewel" in Sanskrit; * PAD ME, the Sanskrit pronunciation, or PEME in Tibetan means "lotus"; * HUM represents the mind of all Buddhas and often ends mantras. MANI refers to the jewel that Chenrezig holds in his two central hands and PADME to the lotus he holds in his second left hand. Saying OM MANI PADME HUM names Chenrezig through his attributes: "the one who holds the jewel and the lotus." "Chenrezig" or "Jewel Lotus" are two names for the same deity. My Heart Hurts
One of my best friends told me today that he started drinking again. "It's not an everyday thing and it's not a lot. It's only 2-3 beers nefore bed". He was sober for 13 years before he fucked it up one night and landed in jail. It was 3+ years since then and he was doing so good and then all of a sudden this. I told him awhile ago that I would stop talking to him if he ever started drinking again (as a joke) and I guess he remembered that because he told me he wanted me to know from him instead of someone else, like his g/f or her daughter. The only thing I could say was just be careful and I will always be there for you. I am always a phone call away. The thing that makes me upset about this whole thing is that he has it at home and his girlfried didn't stop him and he didn't call his sponsor if he was that bad. So Much For Being My Best Friend
Well I have known by best friend Derek for 18 years. Well today he is mad at me and I think that he will never talk to me again, which right now is too bad because this is his fault not mine. Pineapple Salsa 1 cup finely chopped fresh pineapple 1/2 cup each diced red, yellow & green bell peppers 1 cup fresh corn kernels removed from cob 15 oz. cooked black beans, drained & rinsed 1/4 cup each chopped onions, orange juice, chopped fresh cilantro 2 green & red chili peppers, chopped 1/2 tsp. ground cumin to taste salt, pepper In a large bowl, toss together pineapple, bell peppers, corn, black beans, onions, chili peppers, orange juice and cilantro. Season with cumin, salt and pepper. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until serving.

Lobster Mornay 1 cooked lobster 1 1/4 cups milk 1 slice onion 1 bay leaf 6 black peppercorns 1 oz butter 2 tblsp flour 2 tblsp cream pinch of nutmeg 2 oz cheddar, grated pinch of paprika, to garnish Using a sharp knife, cut the lobster in half lengthways through the shell. Lift the meat from the tail and body. Remove the cream colored vein and body matter and discard. Cut the meat into 1/2 inch pieces and refrigerate. Wash the head and shell halves, drain and pat dry and set aside. Heat the milk, onion, bay leaf, and peppercorns in a small pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover and leave for 15 minute. Strain. Melt the butter in a large pan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, or until pale and foaming. Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk. Remove from heat and stir constantly until the mixture boils and thickens. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Stir in the cream. Season with the nutmeg and salt and pepper to taste. Place in freezer 10 min. MIX peanut butter and milk with wire whisk in large bowl until well blended. Add dry pudding mixes; beat 2 min. or until well blended. (Mixture will be thick.) Roast Beef with Horseradish Sauce 1/2 cup whipping cream 1/3 cup A.1. Original Steak Sauce 1/4 cup chopped green onions 3 Tbsp. KRAFT Prepared Horseradish 1 beef eye round roast (2 lb.) Salt and pepper (optional) PREHEAT oven to 325°F. Beat whipping cream with electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form; set aside. Mix steak sauce, onions and horseradish in medium bowl. Add whipped cream; stir gently until well blended. Cover. Refrigerate until ready to use. SEASON meat with salt and pepper; place in roasting pan. BAKE 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes or until cooked through. Cut meat into thin slices. Serve with whipped cream mixture. Let roast stand, covered loosely with foil, at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes after removing from oven to retain the meat juices and make carving easier.

Rip - Fabulous Moolah
For those who didn't know her - The Fabulous Moolah (Lillian Ellison) was one of the original Female Wrestlers, and a long time (AND the 1st) Women's Champion in both the NWA and the WWF/WWE. Sadly, she took her final curtain call yesterday, passing away at the age of 84. It's funny. Even though I knew she was in her 80's, I always imagined her alive and kicking, having a match on her 100th Birthday. She was always so full of life, and ALWAYS was able to keep up with the younger generation in and out of the ring. The single time I was able to talk with her face to face, I enjoyed a conversation that went from the old NWA days all the way to her thoughts on (then) newcomers like John Cena. As much as I like to call myself an Encyclopedia of Wrestling information, hearing stories from her about things BEHIND the scenes made me feel like I was just starting school. Moolah - You will be missed - But you will NEVER be forgotten.

Ok the Holidays are coming weather we like it or not. I love the holidays expecially Christmas but they can be ruined very fast for me when I'm at the register and the person in frount of me is giving the cashier a rough time over something she/he has no control over. What do I mean by a rough time. The store was out of something that she was there for and you'd have thought it was the the cashiers fault. The cashiers are not the ones who do the ordering, and at least in most stores the stocking. But they are the ones that get yelled at and blamed when something is out or not in the same place it was in before. As i stated earlier, I am a coin collector and prices of coins are based upon demand and the amount that were minted. I researched a certain series nickel that was minted from 1883 til 1912. There was a low mintage in 1885 1.4 million, and the price of that coin is going for about $480.00 in good condition. Then i noticed that in 1912, the mintage dropped drastically to 238,000. The value on this coin is only $175. in good.I asked myself, how come the 238,000 mintage is worth less than the 1.4 million mintage? I wanted the 1912-s coin to go up in price so i started to buy them in quantity from dealers that submitted the prices to the price guide. Not So Good At Staying Away....
I'm here, but won't be much.... I'm really pissed and hurt right now....I am so sick of people who claim to be your friend, in real life also, that are so quick to stab you in the back...I managed to find one of them here, and I tried to forgive, but I lost all trust in her. I'm not talking "online" shit either, this is a person I have met and spent time with on several occasions, who I thought was a person I could trust. I can say this much though. I don't believe that she stopped doing what she was doing wrong, and I don't think she will. To that, she is NOT a person I can call a friend. What she did is an unforgivable thing in my book, because she knew what she was doing and she knew it would hurt me, and she did it anyway. Yesterday, I was thinking about deleting my account, and I am still thinking about it, but I have a hard time deciding because I do have other people on here that I care about. I am so glad I went and got groceries when I did. The stores were insane. See we have what is being called a post tropical storm, with damn close to hurricane force winds, if not hurricane force winds coming through... in a few hours. A Humbling Experience
I think I can honestly say I have experience the worst week of my life and I have had some shitty experiences....My oldest son had cancer as a small child and that was a harrowing experience...also lost a business during that difficult time... Then seven years ago my husband was killed in an accident...doesn't get much shittier than that...well yes it does acutally...When faced with ones own mortality.. I've shared with my friends my summer and being diagnosed with breast cancer and the tests and surgeries that follow...My type of cancer is pretty crappy and very aggressive...12 of 17 lymph nodes were affected...I haven't heard anyone with as many as that...I've heard 3, 5 and that is about it... Well, I have decided to go back to my parents house for a few months. #1 reason is they are in their 70's now and limited mobility. so they need me to be around and help them with stuff. #2 my current room mate (after a couple years) is not all that great. i like the guy but he has way to many habits I cant live with any more. A - smoking nothing against smokers, but it affects my health way to much breathin in his smoke. B - big whiskey tooth. every day / night a full bottle gone. I drink, but not like that. he cant go one day without whiskey. C - hes a slob I am tired of cleaning up after him. I come home from workin 8-12 hours and the last thing I want to do is clean up his messes. dishes from the night before he said he would do. Another Good Week.

I started the afternoon dreading what I had to do next. I knew I needed to go to the mall for a few items, and I had put the trip off for as long as I possibly could. I hated the mall. My Opinion About Iraq
Ok. So far I have been nice about things but now I have some one who wants to post crap on my page claiming to know more about what I do than I do and more about me. I have been here for 15 months this time and have lost several friends to include 2 from my platoon. As my pictures show I am a mechanic and wrecker operator. Yes I have seen Iraq with my own eyes. Sgt. Nick Vaughan of Northeast Pennsylvania, left the US Oct 14 2007. He had volunteered his unit into Iraq from Kuwait a day early. The following day, there was not enough shelter for them all to get to safety. Nick got everyone there but him and one other guy (I am sorry I don't know his name). He saved 11 lives that night, including six 18 year old men. They were always his top priority. He died when a bullet struck his neck.
