The "editor"
I'm an "editor" by title only, and sometimes I'm not even sure about that (I knew it was too good to be true). The Voice is mostly a vehicle for advertisements - a chance for businesses all over the County of Vermilion River to get their message out. Compared to the Vermilion Standard or Lloydminster's Meridian Booster and Source, it's an amateurish rag. I wish I had started my career with this paper as opposed to the Slave River Journal. At least with this entry-level position, I can start small, tool around a bit with my writing, and practise my journalism skills.

I've been racking my brain over a lot of things lately and finally have come to a conclusion on what I need to do. My mother has been pressing me for a while to take over the family business. In the past she's offered to buy me a house, acres of land and give me complete control. She has made this offer again lately and it made me think. I just got laid off, I'm single and lets face it my friends are getting older and starting to do their own things now. It was a harder choice back then. Today my daughter went and had a cat scan done and there are some medical issues that we will be adressing when we return to the doctor tomorrow (the dr. better hold on to his shorts, because he will have me to deal with), hehe Now here is her comical view of one of the situations: Prayers are needed for me as I go to the doctor tomorrow..... Long Day
SO today, i was at the hospital from 7:30am to 9:30pm. What a day.... I lost a patient who had peripheral edema and basically filled up with fluid. We got the order for "comfort Measures" at noon and by 1:15pm she was gone. It was really hard to watch a patient die. Anyways, i need some love tonight. Six Months....

My First Post On Myspace.
Another blog from myspace, mine, it was the first one i posted and our first times doing these patrols after being in country a couple of weeks!! So the other day i was out and about the infamous town of Kirkuk, heading home after a long day of just riding around, when BAM!!!! An IED hit the truck ahead of us, nobody hurt, no damage, nothing, but this was in the middle of town, and a soccer game going on no less....There wasnt even a flinch from the locals. So anyway we have to cordone off the area and wait for EOD to come out..............so..........aboot an hour later, maybe and hour and a half later, after almost having to shoot a bus that was barreling down the road, EOD finally shows up. Guess what they do........they get a damn metal detector out and walk right up to the detonation site. I thought it was humorous and worth writing about. But damn, they have some balls, like bowling ball size balls.

Okay Ya'll I just recently returned from a little trip to Baghdad, and well, i did not want to come back to good ole Kirkuk. Just one of my blogs from my myspace, an oldie, but you guys and gals might like!! So today i was getting ready to head out once again. Usually these excursions last on ly 4 or 5 hours, but some times they can last from before the sun comes up and last well after the sun has set. Today was one of those long days we dread. It started after breakfast. Kowing that we were going to miss lunch we pack up on fruits, bread, sandwich meats, as well as drinks, gatorade, cola, and 7 up. Yeah we have a cooler, with ice. What a great invention, ice i mean. We get our trucks ready to roll, and head out at 0800. We drive around and pick up the I.P.'s (Iraqi Police) and start our patrols. This last for about 2 hours. We stop and set up a TCP (tactile control point) to stop and search vehicles, and people. We are teaching the IP to look for contraband, bombs, things like that. It turns out to be a fairly decent day. No real big problems, no explosions, no gunshots, a great day

I got to the docs and they said everything was going good I was healing just fine and its going good. They are always surprised on how well im doing when I go there. Ughhhh
Ever have days when you just feel like crying? Today would be one of them days for me. It seems like nothing can ever go right or at least the way it normally does. You expect something to happen on a certain day and it doesn't 2 weeks in a row it gets rather irritating. It wouldn't be a big deal but it's money I need to buy stuff for my kids! So yeah it drives me insane! That and well I am just kinda bummed out today for some reason so that makes things worse. I just need a vacation or at the very least a weekend away from everything. That might help a weekend to just relax and veg out and not have to worry about anyone or anything other then what I will do next or well not do. A few cold drinks would help too! A night of drunken forgetfullness usually helps me. It doesn't happen often but right now that would be nice. Now if only I had something here to drink! lol Oh well I am sure things will look better after a good nights sleep.

When ever I hear the word addiction the first thing that comes to mind is drugs, alcohol, or any sort of substance that can be abused in some fashion. It is more often than not that this word gets assigned a negative connotation. There are some addictions that can actually produce positive results but by and far addiction is not a positive thing. Some examples can include being addicted to sports or your job or any sort of hobby oriented activity. A productive addiction can be cultivating but it can also be consuming. Mixed Emotions

Taking One Step Back Down The Hill!!! Lol
I am dreading turning 41 next week... 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper 1 pound sea scallops 2 teaspoons olive oil 2 teaspoons margarine 1/3 cup vodka or dry white wine 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1 garlic clove, minced 6 cups hot cooked fettuccine (about 12 ounces uncooked) 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley Combine first 3 ingredients in a large zip-top heavy-duty plastic bag. I love movies. They are just so fun to watch and they take you away from the craziness of life into a new world. I dont like horror or war movies though on the most part. I get scared easy like by ET :/ o well anyway, My fav movies are action, adventure, and fantacy.
