So yesterday I skated a demo for Fringe Clothing (fringegear.com), and this morning I feel like a 60 year old man with arthritis. In dark ages Europe, an early form of a Halloween custom called "souling" used to take place, an early precursor to today's ‘trick or treat'. On November 2, All Souls Day, early Christians would walk from village to village begging for "soul cakes" made out of square pieces of bread topped with currants. In return, they would say prayers on behalf of the dead relatives of the givers. At the time, it was believed that the dead remained in Purgatory after death and that prayer could hasten their passage to Heaven. Last night was really wierd.....I went to bed aroun 1:30 2 oclock in the morning i woke up around 5. It had felt like someone took a razor blade and sliced the back of my throat numerous time and I had the taste of vomit im mymouth although i didn't puke, I had troubles talking, swallowing, and a lil bit of trouble breathing. So I called my boyfriend and asked him if he could come home. He could, so i went and layed back down I fell back asleep. He woke me up when he got home asked me if wanted to go in or wait and see and make appointment later i chose later. And now it is going on 10 am and its allgone but still not feeling right. With Normal Comes Some Sadness
Here it is Halloween....about 5 weeks since I started miscarrying our baby and I have to say that though there is lingering pain. I am starting to feel normal again. Every now and again I cry and remember something or see something that makes me think of the baby and I cry but those times are becoming few and far between. I had my blood drawn again yesterday and will get the results today. Hoping for a big zero. With this return to normal physically comes this sadness in knowing that I am no longer pregnant anymore....that our baby is REALLY gone and it kills me inside but I know that there was a reason for it and I have to accept it and move on though I hate it. thanks for stopping in.

Sauteed Soft Shell Crab
4 soft shell crabs, preferably of prime size (4.5"-5") 1/2 cup pancake mix 4 tablespoons vegetable oil Dredge each crab thoroughly in the pancake mix. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet until a droplet of water spatters upon contact with the hot oil. Place each crab in the skillet. Cover and fry on both sides until golden. Serve hot.

Clam Fritters
1/4 C. all-purpose flour (unsifted) 1/2 Tsp. baking powder 1 egg 1 1/2 C. minced or ground clams half butter or margarine and half salad oil (about 1/4 c. each) salt and lemon wedges (optional) In a bowl combine flour, baking powder and egg with clams; mix until batter is well blended. In a wide frying pan, heat butter and oil (1/4-inch deep), over high heat until it foams but doesn't brown. Drop clam batter into hot fat by heaping tablespoonfuls, adding as many spoonfuls as will fit without crowding. Cook, turning once until fritters are browned on both sides (less than a minute on each side). Remove from pan, drain briefly on paper towels and arrange on warm serving platter; keep warm until all fritters are cooked. Add more butter and oil to pan, if necessary and repeat process with remaining clam batter. When all fritters are done, salt to taste, if desired and serve immediately. Garnish with lemon wedges. Makes about 20 fritters (2-inches in diameter).

Lobster Tails
4 lobster tails 8oz each 1/4 cup olive oil 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest 1 teaspoon dried tarragon 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Combine the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Cut the lobster tails lengthwise, cutting through the meat but not through the shell. Gently open each shell to expose the meat. Add to the marinade and toss well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours. Insert a metal skewer through each lobster tail lengthwise, to keep it from curling. Grill over high heat, 3 to 4 inches from heat source, for 5 minutes per side or until the shells are red and lobster is cooked through. (You may broil the lobster using the same cooking instructions.) Cut the tails in half lengthwise, cutting through the shell with a thick knife or scissors. Reserve, covered loosely with foil.

Chocolate Cheesecake
3/4 cups finely crushed graham cracker crumbs 1 tablespoon sugar 2 tablespoons butter, melted 1 package chocolate pudding and pie filling 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup milk 1 square Baker's unsweetened chocolate 3 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened 3 egg yolks 2 teaspoons vanilla 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 egg whites 1 cup sour cream Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and melted butter. Press on bottom and sides of a greased 9-inch springform pan. Combine pudding mix, sugar and milk in saucepan. Add chocolate. cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat. Cover surface with waxed paper and set aside. Beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in yolks, vanilla, salt and pudding. Fold in egg whites. (Odd. Says nothing about beating the egg whites first. Hm. Well, I would.) Pour over crumbs in pan. Bake on lowest rack at 425F for about 35 minutes or until center is set lightly when touched. Cool 4 hours. Spread top with sour cream.

1 pound scallops 1/2 cup butter very finely chopped garlic fresh breadcrumbs If scallops are large, cut in half. Clean and rinse scallops well and simmer in small amount of water until about half cooked. Drain then place into an oven proof casserole dish. Cook angel hair pasta in boiling salted water until "al dente." Combine sesame oil with hot pepper oil (approximately 1 ounce total per portion based on the desired hotness). Shrimp Scampi
2 pounds. large raw shrimp 1/2 cup butter 1 Tablespoon salt 6 cloves garlic 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped) 3 Tablespoons lemon juice 1 Tablespoon paprika 6 lemon wedges Preheat oven to 400 degrees F Remove shells from shrimp, leaving shell on tail only. Devein and wash under running water; drain on paper towels. Meanwhile melt butter in baking dish in oven; add salt, garlic, one tablespoon parsley and mix well. Arrange shrimp in a single layer in the baking dish. Bake uncovered for five minutes; turn shrimp; sprinkle with lemon juice and paprika and add remaining parsley. Fried Oysters
1 pint standard oysters, drained 3/4 cup self-rising flour or pancake mix 1 teaspoon baking powder salt and pepper to taste 1/2 cup evaporated milk vegetable oil, enough to fill frying pan 1 - 1 1/2 inch deep Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Stir milk into mixture to make a batter. Add oysters without liquor to the batter and coat thoroughly. Remove individual oysters with a fork and drop into hot oil in frying pan. 1 cup flour 1 tbsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. salt 12 oz. can or bottle beer 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce Vegetable oil 2 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined Flour for dredging Creole Tartar Sauce (recipe on bottom) In medium bowl combine 1 cup flour, paprika and salt. Strawberry Shortcake
2 cups all-purpose flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2 to 4 tsps. sugar 1/3 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup milk strawberries Heavy cream, half-n-half or Cool Whip Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Hull, cut up, lightly sugar berries to taste, and slightly crush. Set aside while shortcake is baking. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut or rub in butter and add milk, mixing with a fork as you add. Toss and knead briefly (no more than 10 - 12 kneads) on a floured board. Pat out (do not roll) to fit a deep, round pie pan. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until browning on top. Remove from oven, cool slightly, split, and if desired, butter rounds. Pour berries over bottom half of shortcake, top with second layer and pour more berries over. Top with your favorite topping. You may cut shortcake into wedges before building layers and put together in individual bowls, if you like. This is also wonderful made with raspberries.

Trifle
3 pieces of sponge cake raspberry jam 1 glass sherry or fruit juice 1 banana 1 peach 1 orange 3/4 pint of custard Mock or whipped cream some small macaron biscuits, glaced cherries, angelica to decorate. Spread the cake with jam and cut into small pieces. Give it into the bowl and add sherry or fruit juice. Cover the cake with fruit, slicing banana and peach and dividing the orange into sections. Pour the custard over the cake and fruit and leave in a cool place until completely set. Decorate as desired with mock cream or whipped cream, biscuits, cut angelica and cherries.

New York Cheesecake
1 1/4 cups crushed zweiback crumbs 3 tablespoons melted butter 1 tablespoon sugar 2 pounds cream cheese 1 1/3 cups sugar 4 eggs 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest 1/3 cup heavy cream In a bowl, mix together the crumbs, butter, and sugar and press into the bottom and partly up the sides of a 9 or 10 inch springform pan. Bake in a preheated 325F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool. In a mixer, combine the cheese and sugar until blended. Add eggs and blend until smooth. Mix in flour, lemon zest, and cream. Pour into crust lined pan. Bake in a preheated 400F oven for 10 minutes, reduce temperature to 250F and continue baking 35 to 40 minutes longer or until just barely set. Turn off the oven, leave the door ajar, and let cool in the oven for 1 hour longer. Chill. To serve, remove pan sides and cut into wedges.

Tiramisu
300 g Savoiardi biscuits (or lady fingers) 450 g Mascarpone cheese 3 egg whites 5 egg yolks 150 g sugar 1 to 2 cups cold coffee 1/2 an espresso cup brandy bitter cocoa 300 g Savoiardi biscuits (or lady fingers) 450 g Mascarpone cheese Mash the egg yolks and sugar until creamy; then mix in the cheese. Add the brandy and mix well until you have a homogeneous cream. Beat the whites separately until stiff peaks form, and then blend those in with the first mixture. This is what is used for the cream layers. The layers in between will be lady fingers dipped in the cold coffee. Probably the best number of layers is five (three cream, two lady finger, alternating). Then sprinkle cocoa on the top and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours.

Chocolate Mousse
6 oz semisweet (or "dark" chocolate 1/3 cup extra strong hot coffee 4 large eggs, separated 3 TBSP sweet Pesach wine, Pesach Liqueur, orange juice or raspberry syrup 3 TBSP sugar Put the chocolate and instant coffee in food processor fitted with steel blade, or a blender, and process for a few seconds until chocolate is finely chopped. With the machine running, pour the boiling water in through the top, and continue processing for several more seconds, until the chocolate is completely melted. Add the egg yolks and wine and process until well mixed. In a medium sized bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until stiff. Fold chocolate into whites until no streaks of white remain. Turn into serving dishes, and chill for several hours until firm.

Almond Chicken
1 oz blanched almonds, ground 1 tb bread crumbs, plain, dried 1 1/2 ts Parmesan cheese, grated 1/8 ts salt 1/8 ts basil leaves 8 oz chicken cutlets, divided 1/2 1 tb skim milk 1 tb vegetable oil 2 lemon wedges Pound chicken cutlet to 1/8 inch thickness. On sheet of wax paper combine ground almonds, bread crumbs, cheese, salt and basil. Dip 1 chicken cutlet into milk, then into crumb mixture, coating both sides evenly; repeat procedure with remaining cutlet, being sure to use all of milk and crumb mixture. Heat oil in skillet. Add chicken and coat, turning once, until browned on both sides, 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Serve with lemon wedges.

Chicken Cacciatore
2 lb chicken, cut into pieces 1 c onions, sliced 1/2 c green pepper, chopped 1/4 c oil 1 md garlic clove 1 lb plum tomatoes 1 tb parsley, chopped 1/2 ts oregano 1/4 ts thyme 3/4 ts salt pepper, to taste 1/4 lb mushrooms, sliced Heat oil in large skillet. Add chicken pieces, brown and set aside. Add onion, green pepper and garlic. Cook until onion is tender. Force plum tomatoes through a strainer. Add tomato liquid, parsley, oregano, thyme, salt and pepper to skillet. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes stirring occasionally. Add chicken; cover and cook over low heat 45 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add mushrooms and cook uncovered 15 minutes or until sauce is desired consistency.

Adobo Chicken
2 1/2 lbs. chicken pieces 3 to 4 cloves garlic, smashed 1/3 cup white vinegar 1/4 tsp. black peppercorns, cracked 1 bay leaf 1/3 cup soy sauce vegetable oil or spray for sauteing 3-4 med. potatoes, cut in 1-inch pieces (optional) water to cover Combine all ingredients in a deep glass or stainless steel sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat to medium low. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes or until the meat is very tender. Gently turn the meat occasionally during the course of cooking. Transfer to a serving platter or bowl and cover with sauce. Serve with warm steamed rice.

Baked Chicken With Red Wine
1 chicken (3 to 4 pounds), cut into serving pieces 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled Garlic powder or fresh minced, to taste Salt and pepper to taste 1/2 red wine 1 tablespoon olive oil, optional 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans Preheat oven to 3750 F. Arrange chicken pieces in 13 x 9 x 2 baking dish. Sprinkle with seasonings. Pour wine over all. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil; continue to bake until chicken is thoroughly cooked, approximately 30 minutes. If browner chicken is desired, place under broiler for a few minutes, being careful not to burn pecans. Variations: Add dijon-style mustard and/or Worcestershire sauce to wine before pouring over chicken pieces.

Tequila Lime Chicken
1/4 cup tequila 1/4 cup frozen (thawed) limeade 1 tablespoon grated lime peel 1 1/2 pounds skinless boneless chicken breast halves, cut into strips 1 small orange or yellow bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch strips 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms (4 ounces) 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 1 16 ounce package uncooked spinach fettuccine 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Mix tequila, limeade and lime peel in medium glass or plastic bowl. Stir in chicken. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes. Place chicken and marinade in 12-inch skillet. Stir in bell pepper, mushrooms and garlic. Cook over medium-high heat 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until chicken is no longer pink in center. Cook and drain fettuccine as directed on package. Divide fettuccine among 6 serving plates. Spoon chicken mixture over fettuccine. Sprinkle with cheese. Garnish with additional grated lime peel if desired.

2 1/2 lbs chicken tenders or chicken breast cut in strips - no skin salt 4 tablespoons butter or margarine 1/4 to 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 2 teaspoons paprika 2 eggs, slightly beaten 3 tablespoons milk 2/3 cups grated Parmesan cheese 2/3 cups grated Romano cheese 2/3 cups dry bread crumbs Heat oven to 400. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in 9 x 13. Lightly salt chicken. Coat chicken with mixture in dish 1, dip chicken into dish 2, roll chicken in dish 3. Roll up strips and secure with a toothpick. Place chicken in pan. Drizzle with melted butter. Bake 45 minutes or until done. May serve with several sauces - salsa, sweet and sour, BBQ, use your imagination. Note: if in a hury can use whole pieces of chicken, place in pan bone side down.

Chicken Marsala
4 Tbsp. butter 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, pounded to 1/4-inch thickness 4 shallots, finely chopped (or about a 1/4 cup finely chopped onion) 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced 1/4 cup dry Marsala 1/2 cup heavy cream 1 teaspoon lemon juice Salt and freshly gound pepper In a large frying pan, melt 2 Tbsp of the butter over medium heat. Add chicken and saute, turning once, until lightly browned, about 2 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside. Melt remaining butter in pan. Ad shallots and mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms are lightly browned, 3 to 5 minutes. Add Marsala and bring to a boil, scraping up any browned bits from bottom of pan. Add cream and lemon juice and return to a boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Return chicken to pan and cook, turning in sauce, for about 3 minutes to reheat and finish cooking.

2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons flour 2 cups heavy cream 2 chicken bouillon cubes 1/2 cup cream of coconut or 1/2 cup coconut milk Curry powder to taste (approximately 1 teaspoon) 1 whole chicken breast 1/4 cup apple slices 1/4 cup onions, chopped 1/4 cup mushrooms, chopped 4 or 5 broccoli florets Prepare a roux by melting the butter and blending with the flour over medium heat. Stir constantly and add cream, bouillon cubes, and coconut milk. Add curry powder and continue stirring until mixture boils and thickens. Set aside. Place chicken breast in a small casserole dish, skin side down. Fill breast with the apples, onions, mushrooms, and broccoli. Fold two halves of chicken breast together. Cover with curry sauce and garnish. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees.

Need to distroy things come to my house everyone else does So why is it that when you work hard at something others take it on themselves to distroy what you have done? Happy Halloween ya'll — Tuesday, October 31, 2006 Uh, I had a car run into me today. I was walking in a crosswalk, and they didn't see me somehow. Weekend In Iowa
Well, we finally made it home after our drive and time out with daddy in Iowa. Da Bears!
So this past Sunday my father and myself went out to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings to eat some good food drink some beer and watch the best team in football play! I for one had a great time, the food was yummy in my tummy, I had boneless wing covered in the honey bbq sauce, it was sweet but with just the right amount of kick to it. The Beer was smooth and cold, I had a 32 oz. Blue Moon, my dad thought I was crazy. Which I am but that is another story. I drank that whole beer and it was fan-fucking-tastic! An then there was the game... the Bears or as people from Chicago say Da Bears kicked ass up and down the field, they had scored 10 points even before the 49ers QB had put one hand on the ball! The resturant was crowed with fans just like my dad and I who were going crazy over just how damn good the bears were playing, it was so loud, it was great! So all in all we had a really great time, we left the resturant at the end of the third because we knew they were going to win.

YOU MUST KNOW *77 I knew about the red light on cars, but not the *77. It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend.
